You could try using Disks.
Highlight the 999 drive and click on the Gear icon. Select Repair Filesystem - (my text is feint because the disk cannot be mounted to do this.) If that doesn't work then you might need a Windows machine to try and fix the error.

To upgrade from Mint 20 to Mint 22 is a herculean task that I would not personally attempt. It would be far easier to install a new version of Mint 22 and then try and amend it near to how you have your Mint 20 set up.
