Based on output in another thread, the renderer should be renderer: SVGA3D.

Re: Drivers Mgr Window comes up for no reason

What are your Display Settings in VirtualBox..
They should look something like this..

From memory 3D acceleration is not enabled by default & minimum Video Memory is enabled.
Check the 3D acceleration box & give the Mint guest as much Video Memory as you can..

Re: Minor Volume Issue - Mint 19.3

Don't know if this applies..
In Cinnamon if you click on the speaker icon in the right hand panel & select Sound Settings
Then click on the Settings tab. The default Amplification Setting is, I believe set to 100% but you can increase that to 150%..

Re: Virtual Box problems with Kernel

I am glad Theresa. The normal way to signify that a problem is solved is for the OP to go back to their original post & (using the pencil icon) alter the title of the topic to include the word Solved (in any case you like :D ) either at the start or the end of the original title. edit.png That w...

Re: 18.3 to 20??

No. &, personally, I would not suggest that you try the longer update route either. Much quicker, cleaner & (in the end) less hassle to save all your personal stuff & install 20.1 right out of the box. I went from 19.3 to a clean install of 20.1 by using the Backup Tool that is already o...

Re: Don't know how to access GRUB LM 20.1 MATE

F12 should get you to the BIOS menu in a Acer Aspire 5.
Esc should get you a grub menu.
But, you might want to consider putting your install Mint disk/USB in the machine & then running that in live mode to tidy up your installation & remove files.

Re: Getting applications - What a mess!

Since I like Linux Mint install (better than Ubuntu, you need to install a lot of extra things like drivers or any proprietary package you need), I will probably try Linux Mint Debian edition, it is a rolling one. I guess apps will be more recent, with the risk of some instability (In an ideal worl...

Re: Using Timeshift to restore over a different OS?

I think just about anything is possible.....BUT Timeshift is a system restore application. Indeed, by default (& by most experienced users recommendation) the /Home directory is not even saved. So if you did install it over another OS you would end up with a horrible Frankenstein of an OS where ...

Re: So.. brand noob here..do I need AV,.VPN..antimalware?

I think that you might be better creating a couple of threads rather than put all your issues in one basket... :D As far as anti-virus stuff is concerned.. Most users would say don't use it. The systems that are available to detect viruses in Linux tend to issue far more erroneous calls than the gen...

https://linuxmint-user-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/edge.html says this.. Warning The Edge ISO image is not as stable as the other ISOs and may not support as many proprietary drivers. Only use it if you cannot boot or install with the other ISOs. So I am not sure that, in your circumstances, it w...

Re: Unable to delete files

Your issue is still the same - it is because Windows left the disk in a suspended state due to fast startup. You could try this... For example, if you no longer have Windows 10 or 8 installed, but a NTFS partition was left in a hibernated state. In such cases, you could use sudo ntfsfix /dev/NTFS_pa...

Re: Epson ET-2710 prints blank pages. Why?

Not sure if you have Cinnamon, & so Nemo, but if you do the easiest way
Go to where you have extracted the files & right mouse click & then click on Open in Terminal.
A terminal will open in the directory that you are in & then you can

Code: Select all

 ./install.sh

Re: Unable to delete files

I thought that drives formatted for Windows only had 'ghost' permissions under Linux - i.e. 'root' or 'user' made very little difference.
However, until the OP gives some system information I think all is a guess, which might be a better way forward for him rather than nit picking at replies...
