Logitech Wireless KBD/Mint 17

Logitech EX-100 Wireless Keyboard, new batteries. Tried to connect this instead of my wired keyboad and couldn't get it to work. Searched and found something called Solaar, but couldn't get it to work either. I am obviously doing something wrong, but I can't figure it out. I did use the keyboard bef...

Re: Update Levels

Did daddy ever try tomatoes in a fruit salad? If the tomato was other than a store bought tasteless one, it might actually be good. Anyway, your point is taken, although I prefer it this way: "Knowledge is understanding how to do something; Wisdom is knowing when not to" I took the security updates ...

Re: Update Levels

Yes, I realised that Updates cannot be undone afterwards, it is only Packages that can be removed via Software Manager if installed that way. I found out that packages installed via Tarballs (frustrating process for me) cannot be removed.

Re: Update Levels

OK, so I guess I will take the security updates then. I do currently have an issue I am thinking might be resolved by a couple of these updates. My understanding is that I can remove them anyway since they are installed via software manager.

Update Levels

Since I installed Mint 17, I have only taken Level 3 packages, but I see there are some Level 4 and 5 packages that are Security updates. Should I be taking these? I have been using Mint since Bianca, but I am not super knowledgeable with it should problems arise. At one time, back with Mint 10, I t...

Re: Why does my monitor not blank out?

I set it to that, but there still is a backlight present, ever so dim. It is noticeable.

Perhaps I am not describing it correctly. What I see is akin to tuning a DTV to a station that has audio only.

Re: Why does my monitor not blank out?

Odd behaviour. I should really like the screen to go completely blank after a period on non-use.

Why does my monitor not blank out?

I have noticed since Mint 10 that my monitor never really goes blank wif I have not been using it for a while. There is no desktop screen, but it looks like there is a backlight still on and the screen is dark gray and the power indicator does blink. Any ideas?

Re: Xerox 6280 DN printer driver M17 [SOLVED]

I did have to go back to the printer configuration because the driver selected was still CUPS+Gutenprint. So I figured maybe the driver was just made available to the selection list, which it was. When I specified the 6280 driver, I then went to the maintenance menu and was pleased to see more optio...

Re: Xerox 6280 DN printer driver M17

I am going to try that right after dinner. Awesome! Thank you for taking pity on a noob and giving me step-by-step instructions that may even help me with tarballs in the future. :D

Thanks!

I couldn't wait for it. Works like a charm, color printing is BACK!! Woohoo!

Thanks a million!

Xerox 6280 DN printer driver M17 [SOLVED]

Mint 17 KDE, I actually have the printer "working" using drivers selected from the list provided in Mint (picked a close model number printer, mine not listed) but I get no color. For some reason Xerox supplies the driver in .rpm format, so I don't know if I can use .rpm drivers with .deb. Even if I...

[Solved]You Tube videos show blue skin tones

Thanks! I thought it might have been a Firefox issue, but didn't see a similar thread. Perhaps Subjects should reflect behaviour to avoid thread duplication.

[Solved]You Tube videos show blue skin tones

Strange behaviour recently on Mint 10 Julia. Looking at videos appears that everyone has joined the Blue Man Group.

I don't recall any video driver upgrades that would result in this. Anyone else seeing it?

*Card is a GeForce GTX 465, driver version 260.19.06.

Perhaps I should have said that I have perused several threads and added scads of packages that are supposed to make the Iphone work with Mint. No joy yet.

Mint with Iphone

Anyone ever have any luck getting anything to work with an Iphone?

My kid did a project on his Iphone and I couldn't get Mint to recognise it as a drive. I eneded up having to resort
to Windows7 which I barely know how to use any more :P to get the pictures out of the phone.

Re: Mint 11 Sound Suddenly Stopped Working

I don't think it is anything that you did, I just think your card is too old to be supported any more. The Audigy SE series has no real support from Creative, so it would be a problem if there was a sound module update which I also experienced in Windows. Mint 10 and Windows 7 were both working just...

SOLVED: Lost Sound with Julia

I purchased a SBAudigy to go with this build since I don't use anything other than 2 speaks and a sub. The drivers (CA0106) for the card were likely only good until they were updated, possibly by me or in a Mint Update. Whatever the reason, the card did not work with either Windows or Linux. Rather ...

Re: Lost Sound with Julia

After trying everything I could think of to repair this issue, I am left with the high likelihood that the sound card has failed. Booting into Windows leaves me soundless as well. There have been no BIOS changes that would eliminate the card. The only thing I have not done is replace the card with a...

Re: Lost Sound with Julia

Thanks for your help, but that command does not work for me. Alsa-utils is already installed.

I think I will uninstall all alsamixer parts and try a reinstall.
