Re: Firewall rules set per application?

I tried to compile Douane and it does not seem to support Linux Mint: https://github.com/Douane/Douane/issues/23 However, I am new to the scene and maybe someone else can fix it? Actually, I am also searching for a viable application based firewall ever since. In my opinion this is a major security ...

Re: WPA2 Hotspot does not work

Even if I create a hotspot with visible SSID I cannot connect.

Win7 laptop says "Network Security Key Mismatch"
Mobile Phone "Could not Authenticate ..."
The password is clearly defined under /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ and matches exactly :?

Re: /dev/mapper/cryptswap & /boot error & missing swap

Ok. Somehow I managed to activate swap on boot. Both errors disappeared. Seems like I was able to use "mint--vg-swap_1" as my swap device. But is it also encrypted? swapon -s Filename Type Size Used Priority /dev/mapper/mint--vg-swap_1 partition 4079612 0 -1 fstab: # /etc/fstab: static file system i...

Re: Strange Outgoing Connections / Linux Mint Spyware?

Thank you guys.
Indeed the connections were caused by the P2P cloud application "aerofs" which was still active as autostart.
All connections disappeared when I quit the program and removed it from the startup.

The connections appear right after startup with no other applications opened except PG.

Does anybody know what could be the reason for this strange connections?

[SOLVED] Screen Brightness / Fn Button Issue ASUS X200M

Hello there Just bought an ASUS X200M running Linux Mint 17.2 XFCE. Initially, I was able to adjust the brightness through the power manager in the task bar. However, the Fn keys did not work. As shown in multiple posts on several forums, I used the following adjustment in the etc/default/grub file:...

Linux Sandbox / Sandboxie Alternative

Hello Mint Friends, I am new to Linux Mint 17.2 XFCE and looking for a way to run applications (mostly Firefox but also other apps) in a "sandboxed" environment with customisable authorisations / limited access on the system. On Windows I am using Sandboxie, which is great for this purpose, but unfo...
