Re: Help please with my minecraft.
I just verified that the beta launcher I just linked to in my prior post, https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCL-9704 works on Minecraft 1.13.2 on LM 19 Cinnamon when the computer is disconnected from the internet.

Re: Help please with my minecraft.
I reproduced the problem I think by turning off my wireless in the bottom right. Apparently this is a bug reported in July of 2018 for the current java launcher 1.6.89j in linux and apparently Mac also. It does not appear to me that this launcher will be fixed, but there is a beta launcher that I am...

Re: Help please with my minecraft.
Hi, I am trying to reproduce the problem on my LM 19 partition. How are you going offline? Through the icon at the bottom right of the LM desktop? By pulling out the ethernet cable? Through the launcher?

Re: Minecraft was unfortunately the last straw :-(
For reference, here is a video in which I made Minecraft work in Linux Mint 19. As you can see in my video I am slowing down and am not smart enough anymore to figure out how to fake a video in kdenlive :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbaDU1l3Onk Here I made a video on how to increase fps using L...

Re: New Linux Mint 19 Install - Minecraft extreme stuttering
Please post the specifications of your system and the output of java -version The java version should say 1.8 for openjdk or java 8 for Oracle java. The problem with minecraft for Mint 19 is that java defaults to a newer version than java 8, which does not work well with Minecraft. Here is a video o...

Re: Minecraft launcher crashes on Linux Mint 19 Xfce
I haven't tried Mint 19 XFCE yet, but I think HavaAMint is on the right track. OpenJDK 10 does not seem to work with minecraft from what I have tried, and if you install the minecraft launcher from the Mint software center then it seems to reinstall OpenJDK 10 if I remember right. You can check whic...

Re: New iPhone Next Month, Android vs iOS
OP seems to have made a decision already. I was like that too once. I switched to the iphone 6 from android last year, and I regret it now. But I can't afford to replace my iphone until the payment plans finishes in 2020. So I am stuck with that iphone. iphone advantages-better security, more update...

4.13 has reached end of life and will no longer get security updates, so the choices to get updates like for Meltdown and Spectre are 4.4 and 4.15. https://www.ubuntu.com/info/release-end-of-life NVIDIA 390 does not support OP's GT 210 graphics card. He is stuck with the legacy 340 driver while usin...

Re: Minecraft 1.13 Server
I am running a Minecraft 1.13 server on an Ubuntu 18.04 server with openbox, a local samba server running, and a website. The minecraft 1.13 server works ok for me but it does seem to use more resources than 1.12 (but I haven't tried to quantify a difference). I rarely get more than 3 players at onc...

Re: Minecraft won't launch in Linux Mint 19 MATE
Hi, did you get the game to work? I reproduced the problem with a fresh install of LM 19 (Cinnamon), and found that installing openjdk 8 just allowed the launcher to start, but it couldn't play the game from the default launcher. So I got tired of messing with the open source version of java that LM...

Re: Minecraft won't launch in Linux Mint 19 MATE
How are you installing java? It looks like there might be a problem with the java 10 installation method in LM 19. I am tempted to try to reproduce that in a virtual machine. This is how I usually install java, the page happens to be by Pjotr at this forum. https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtip...

Re: Minecraft won't start on Mint 19 Cinnamon
I'm surprised that you are using Java 10 for minecraft. I know java 8 works with minecraft since that is what I use. Did it work with java 10 in 18.3? Anyways, I googled the error it is throwing and came across this possible solution https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6784463/error-trustanchors-par...

Since you have 8 cores and an existing windows license, you probably are best off in my opinion in running a virtual machine like virtualbox. Virtualbox allows you to install nearly any OS, including Windows, inside another OS, and as many times as you have space for it. https://www.virtualbox.org/...

Re: The Sims 3
My kids play Sims 3 on Windows even though I got it working on WINE, so I don't know how well it works once you get into the game. There are a few options for playing Sims 3. One is to dual boot, which is what we do because my kids didn't want to try starting over in WINE. Another is to run Windows ...

Re: Censorship on the forum
I will agree that there is not only censorship, but that it is necessary to have censorship in a privately owned forum that is meant to help others in linux. Otherwise the trolls will take over; or do we want some government to be our forum overlord? I don't believe flaming each other over sensitive...

I think some of the problem here may be with the language barrier, the OP might not be able to clearly express thoughts in a different language. I don't understand the problems with the bank. Re: Slow/Poor performance Linux on Ubuntu 16.04, previously on Mint 18 Xfce
A system that works fine and then slows down sounds like it could be heat related. Laptops don't have as good ventilation as desktops in general and so you have to be more careful with keeping them clean. I noticed that the details you posted show that the cpu was in the 50-60 degree range but the f...

Re: Beware! Undetectable CrossRAT malware targets Windows, MacOS, and Linux systems
Apparently it is java malware that queries the OS and then attempts persistence. Most of us have openjdk. They call it undetectable because it is new enough for it have a definition yet on most scanners. However it leaves behind some traces that can be found manually. https://digitasecurity.com/blo...
