Steam, Lutris, Wine Prefix? Oh, my!
I'm trying to get Steam games working. I'd seen all kinds of things about using things like Lutris to make games work better and followed this guide to get everything installed: https://christitus.com/ultimate-linux-gaming-guide/ Great. I went to Steam, and, once I'd made the text size big enough to...

Re: [SOLVED] Struggling to understand Timeshift
I went to Timeshift > Settings > Users and it says "User home directories are excluded by default unless you enable them here." Did you try moving the radio button for your home directory over to "Include All Files?" It still didn't make snapshots of those files? Also, on the Typ...

Re: Beginner's Guide to Syncthing - Android & Mint File Sharing
I'm using SyncThing to sync the user data on my de-Googled Android phone with my computer. In my case, for my computer, I installed it via the Debian/Ubuntu Packages section of: https://syncthing.net/downloads/ For my phone, I got it through F-droid. I'm only syncing when I'm at home in range of my ...

Can't Delete Items in Favorites (System Tray & Start Menu)
If I click on the Favorites icon (a star) in the System Tray, it shows me a couple of folders that have invalid paths (I changed a mount point). Ditto for the Favorites folder under the Start Menu. I can't find any way to remove those entries. I've removed them from the Favorites list in the File Ma...

Re: Steam Text Size & .desktop File to Fix
Yep. To me, those sections look like they're somehow setting up links or something to the different parts of Steam in different languages. But, I don't see anything on my system to reflect that. I'll take a look at that link. Thanks.

Steam Text Size & .desktop File to Fix
I just installed the latest Steam on Linux Mint 20.1 Cinnamon with a 3440x1440 resolution monitor where the Desktop scaling is set to 125%. Upon starting it, I found the text so small I couldn't even read it. Honestly. I had to get a magnifying glass to see enough to check that the settings were cor...

Re: Add Multiple Browser Profile Shortcuts to Panel?
Thanks for the response. I'll be giving that a try since the method I'd been working on doesn't do what I want (my method gave me two, unique shortcuts on the panel that launch the correct profiles, but once launched, the running panel entries revert to the standard Brave icon). I'll document what I...

Re: Copy/paste sometimes does not take
I've been seeing the same thing here. On occasions (a couple of times a day, maybe), I'll do a CTRL-V after copying something either with CTRL-C or with the mouse and get nothing. It's not just in the browser either. Up until yesterday, I'd assumed 1) I didn't do the copy correctly, 2) one form of c...

Add Multiple Browser Profile Shortcuts to Panel?
I'm using the Brave browser with two different profiles. From the Start Menu, I can right-click on the program and add a shortcut to the program to the panel. Is there any way to add individual shortcuts to the panel (one for each profile)? If I right-click on the panel icon and select Preferences >...

Re: Corsair K65 Keyboard & M65 Mouse in Mint
Unfortunately, there seems to be problems when booting and shutting down. As noted in my OP, just having the devices plugged in adds about 12 seconds to the boot time before the password prompt comes up. Then, there's usually a delay of several seconds before the password prompt will accept keystrok...

Corsair K65 Keyboard & M65 Mouse in Mint
I just wanted to post my experience with my new Corsair K65 RGB Rapidfire keyboard and M65 Pro RGB mouse in Linux Mint 17.3. Roughly speaking, they work fine as a plain old ordinary keyboard and mouse. But, none of the special effects work. I'll have to give compiling the following software a shot t...

Re: Microsoft tells devs: Whatever you're doing in Linux, Windows 10 will soon do it too
They're going to support EXT4 and the like? Get rid of the adware/spyware/malware platform that's integral to Windows 10? Well, then, I guess I'd better move everything back over to my Windows partition.microsoft-tells-devs-whatever-youre-doing-in-linux-windows-10-will-soon-do-it-too

Re: Corsair Gaming Mouse/Keyboard settings/drivers
Currently, I just have a standard keyboard. I was thinking about trying a K65 RGB RAPIDFIRE Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, but was worried about how it would work under Linux (as well as how it would be for plain old typing, but that's another story).

Re: Which GnuPG?
I had issues with Mint 18 (drives wouldn't necessarily mount and wired Ethernet wouldn't necessarily connect) and had to go back to 17.3. I might give Mint 18.1 a try at some point.

Re: Which GnuPG?
That's probably a bit beyond me right now. I guess I'll just stick with what's already on the machine. It's just a learning experience at this point. So, if I can learn these versions, I should be able to handle the new version in a couple of years (or if needed earlier). Thanks.

xenopeek: Thanks. I wasn't aware of the updates to the repository. That makes life a lot easier. Cosmo: No problem with the 1.4 version. But, for the 2.x, which is a better choice for someone just trying to get started with GnuPG? The 2.0 stable (already installed) or the 2.1 modern (recommended by ...

Which GnuPG?
I guess I need to start figuring out this encryption thing. So, I'd like to start with GnuPG and some of its add-ons. From Software Manager, I see that I've currently got both versions 1.4.16 (classic) and 2.0.22 (stable) installed. From several posts on these forums, I understand that I need to lea...

Same problem here on Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon (x64). My username is eatenimpinia (no dashes or anything weird). Update Manager: Failed to Fetch... [SOLVED?]
This might have been temporary since it seems to be (at least partially) solved. But, I'll leave this here in case anyone else needs the processes or if the problem comes back. Update Manager has been giving me a "Failed to fetch" message all day: Could not refresh the list of updates W:Fa...
