Re: VICE 3.2 (Flatpak)

Does the directory /home/me/.config/vice/ exist? Hi catweazel, yes it exists You can try this in a terminal: sudo chown -R $USER:$USER /home/me/.config/vice If that doesn't help, you'll need to wait for someone else to come along. Unfortunately that didn't help. Thanks for your help anyway, I appre...

VICE 3.2 (Flatpak)

In the software repository there is a package called net.sf.VICE (Vice 3.2), a Commodore 64 Emulator. When trying to save the config I get a error msg. saying "Failed to save settings to default file." Does anybody have a clue why ? Could it be access problems ? Looks like it is trying to save to : ...

Re: Upgraded from 18.3 to 19, fails to login.

Hi all, After two failed attempts at upgrade I decided to go for migration. This time I succeeded and are now happily at Mint 19 :D Since steps required are not more difficult than the upgrade I thought I'd share the steps I did. 1. To be on the safeside, start with backup. I did one full clone of m...

Re: Upgraded from 18.3 to 19, fails to login.

For the record I did try my second attempt today upgrading to 19. In the dryrun (mintupgrade check) it all seemed fine. After download (which took a long time) and install I got a lot of error messages about error in gconf2. Once again Timeshift saved me and I'm back on 18.3 Now I guess I will consi...

Re: Upgraded from 18.3 to 19, fails to login.

I don't think it's a kernel or graphic card issue. I tried to bootup in advanced mode trying different kernels. My PC runs kernel 4.10.0-40 and Nvidia GTX 1070 with Nvidia-396 driver. I do have a Blackmagic intensity pro that I was wondering could be the source of problems, but I see you guys have t...

Upgraded from 18.3 to 19, fails to login.

Hi, I did a Timeshift snapshot and went away with Clems instructions to upgrade from 18.3 to 19. All seemed to go fine, but after reboot it goes into the login screen but mouse is very jerky. When I login with my user the screen blinks and goes back to login screen again. After trying to login with ...

Re: 18.1 disapearing desktop icons?

Take a look at the following thread on Linux Mint's Launchpad. https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1650977 Once in Launchpad, please also make sure to login, at the top of the page click the yellow circle with an inscribed pencil next to the list of users this bug affects, and select 'Yes, it...

Re: 18.1 Disappearing Desktop Icons

Same problem here in 18.1, running dual screen, nvidia driver and Cinnamon. Was working since 17 (have upgraded ever since).
As a workaround I suppose a short bash script at startup (restart nemo) could bring icons back, but it's not a solution to the problem.

Re: 18.1 disapearing desktop icons?

I'm also having the same issue. It stopped working when I upgraded from 18 to 18.1 (Cinnamon)
I'm running dual monitors with Nvidia driver.
Workaround suggested by d00med also works for me, alternatively killing nemo with

Code: Select all

nemo -q
, then open file manager (to start nemo).

Re: Persistent graphics issues

Hi John, Not sure if this helps you but I had occasionally screen flickering in my dual screen setup. I'm on a desktop with Nvidia GTX960. This screen flickering started when I upgraded to Mint 18. I was using Nvidia's driver, but since I upgraded this driver was from 14.04 codebase. I added again t...

Linux Mint used in public library

Realizing it has been years since my last visit to my local library in Norway, I decided to go for a visit yesterday. I was very pleased to see that all the PC's available for the public was running Linux Mint 17. I briefly checked the distribution. It was very locked down (to avoid people messing u...
