Re: HELP! Linux Cinnamon crashing on boot up to fall back mode!

Now I need to learn how to take a backup so this doesnt happen again! Now you need to run Timeshift and Create a snapshot. Ideally it should be on another drive or at a push another partition. Re: HELP! Linux Cinnamon crashing on boot up to fall back mode!

Phew! After a lot of messing around, I managed to access sub menu's and find the location of the NVidia settings. Reset them to what I remembered and Cinamon is no longer crashing and operating as before.

Now I need to learn how to take a backup so this doesnt happen again!

Open a terminal and copy-paste

Code: Select all

find $HOME ! -user $USER -type f
into it and press enter. If you get any output, copy-paste the output back here.
Sorry, that does not work?

Re: Not another Mint anti virus question.

Guys (and any gals!), thanks for your comments. However, it is well known in the UK banks will look to shift responsibility for hacked bank accounts onto the customer. Santander are particularly keen to shift that responsibility onto the user. Yeah, it is easy to say dont bank with them when they ho...

Re: Chrome installation and opening on Linux

17.2 but when I tried to update to a newer version (17.3?) that just crashed to a black screen so I select 17.2 when the laptop boots.

Where you say try this, do you mean type 'code: select' as well because I get a message 'code command not found.'

Re: Chrome installation and opening on Linux

Do you mean a full update to a new version of Linux? I tried that some time ago and just get a black screen when selecting from the gnu start up menu.

If you mean update something else, please explain. TIA
