Re: Linux Mint 19.1 Tessa - Nemo/Mouse problem

I did some further tests and now unfortunately I can say with 100% confidence that is a real bug. I ran Mint 19.1 Cinnamon directly from a flash drive in three completely different systems and the problem was always identical: - Desktop PC (Intel i7-5960 / 32GB RAM) - Laptop Dell Vostro 3560 - Lapto...

Linux Mint 19.1 Tessa - Nemo/Mouse problem

Long term Mint Cinnamon user here. I did an upgrade to Tessa over Tara (19) on the weekend and immediately noticed that the following Nemo option no longer works reliably: Edit > Preferences > Behavior > Double-click on a blank area to go to the parent folder. I can still double-click to go back but...

Re: No Visualizations in xplayer LM Mate 18

Well, good to know that I am not alone on this one. I'm on Mint 18.1 Cinnamon 64-bit and the XPlayer visualizations never worked for me from the first day of the upgrade. I tried a lot different things to try to repair the issue but I only see a pitch black window no matter I do. I fear it’s an inte...

Re: Some programs appear too small on screen

Sorry LeBoy, I don't know HiDPI. I'm reading now about it. I didn't find it in Menu Preferences. Thank you. Menu > Preferences > General > Desktop Scaling > User interface scaling: Double (Hi-DPI) There's a good screenshot of the dialog box in this link: https://www.adventuresinoss.com/2015/12/10/m...

Re: Raid-0 looks ok?

My experience is that Mint doesn't install well on BIOS Raids. At least not until release 17,3. That was the last time I tried :-( I indeed have all my Mint installations running on SSD Raid-0 arrays but they are all made by software Raid using a Linux module called mdadm. In short: 1. First install...

Re: Your Opinion on 17.3

I've been using 17.3 since release date and I am super happy with it. No reason to change a running system. However since I have a couple of SSD's to spare and an easy multiple-boot GRUB setup I also installed 18.1 from scratch on a separate disk to "try it out." After using the 18.1 for a while I c...

Nobody?
Can someone at least confirm that the visualizations work on Mint 18.1?

Mint 18.1 BUG: Xplayer GStreamer Visual Effects broken?

Last week I installed Mint 18.1 (Serena) on a new partition and I noticed that the visual effect on the new XPlayer Video Player don't work at all. No matter which one you choose I only see a black screen when MP3 are played. - Problem is the same with Nouveau or NVidia drivers. - I also checked in ...

Re: 17.3 upgrade Cinnamon crashes

Hi guys, After several unsuccessful attempts I gave up trying to install 17.3 from LiveCD. However I found an alternative method to perform a clean isntallation from scratch: Install 17.2 from LiveCD Run all system updates available via Update Manager Reboot Run 17.3 upgrade via Update Manager > Men...

Re: 17.3 upgrade Cinnamon crashes

Well, at least we know now that we are not doing something wrong :-( On the weekend I downloaded 17.3 LiveCD once again new to give it another try: 1. Booted from LiveCD => Black screen. I let system run for 20 minutes but nothing happened :-( 2. Booted from LiveCD in Recovery Mode => I could instal...

Re: 17.3 upgrade Cinnamon crashes

Guys, honestly we must be doing something awfully wrong here. If I read most of the forum entries everybody is saying that 17.3 is so much better and so much more stable than 17.2. However... if I download and boot from 17.2 LiveCD = Installation and system run perfectly. if I download and boot from...

Re: 17.3 upgrade Cinnamon crashes

Another one in the boat here :-( I've been running Mint 17.2 64bit for a month now without any problems whatsoever. On the weekend I downloaded 17.3 LiveCD and burned it to a USB stick. LiveCD would never boot normally - black screen. I can only boot it in fallback mode to perform the installation b...

So far looks like a really great update.
Cool, I can't wait for upgrade. On the weekend probably 8-)

Re: Mint on Bootable Raid0

Mission accomplished! Here are the detailed instruction as promised: NOTE 1: Be aware that this setup uses an extra spare USB stick as bridge to load the OS. This USB stick should always be connected the PC afterwards. In case you don't want to use a spare USB stick as intermediate bootloader please...

Re: Laggy window controls (Cinnamon + NVIDIA)

@All: Sorry for going totally off topic here. About my bootable Raid0 setup: I created a new thread for it: ( http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=208835 ) About my PSU blowing up: It was already over 6 years old but I suspect it was partially my fault because I had to turn it on and off...

Mint on Bootable Raid0

Since documentation on this is so scarce and fragmented I decided to start my own thread. Hopefully this will end up in an post with straightforward instructions that anyone can follow. Objective: Install Linux Mint 17.2 on a SSD Raid0 array that the system can boot up from. Hard facts I gathered fr...

Re: Laggy window controls (Cinnamon + NVIDIA)

By the way, I disabled the Cinnamon Nightly PPA (Cinnamon 2.8 was still working fine) and used Mint's "Software sources" tool to downgrade back to the official 2.6.13 packages. Something I wouldn't recommend anyone to do since although it works it left broken packages and I had to use the command l...

Re: Laggy window controls (Cinnamon + NVIDIA)

You put a smile on my face because with the age I'm slowly getting there myself. When setting up this new rig I certainly felt my eyes beginning to strain. They keep on printing the labels and manuals smaller and smaller it seems
