Re: So, "Microsoft" called me ...
On the odd occasions, I picked up my phone without checking the ID, I got the 'Microsoft help desk' call. I responded once to say 'you must have dialed the wrong number because I do not own a computer. Silence for a beat, then he said, you don't own a computer? Not at all, I answered. He hung up. Du...

replacing secomp with this very long 'text' from here https://github.com/netblue30/firejail/issues/1939#issuecomment-388358648 works perfectly well for me. seccomp.drop @clock,@cpu-emulation,@debug,@module,@obsolete,@raw-io,@reboot,@resources,@swap,acct,add_key,bpf,fanotify_init,io_cancel,io_destroy...

Re: Firejail and my browsers [SOLVED]
Apparently other distros are having the same issue. I'm taking a break from FF while contentedly using Palemoon for the nonce until FJ or FF come up a fix.
Thanks all for your help.

Re: Firejail and my browsers [SOLVED]
Alas, neither worked. So not tracelog, uh?Just add a # to the beginning of the line, for example # tracelog.
You can also try firejail --ignore=tracelog firefox for a quick check if tracelog is indeed the culprit. If this works, then it's tracelog's fault.
Thanks for helping, guys.

Re: Firejail and my browsers [SOLVED]
FWIW, this comment out 'tracelog ' fix with a 'pull request' has been submitted to the Firejail git by 'pizzadude'. https://github.com/netblue30/firejail/issues/1930#issuecomment-387892360 . I have this problem but with firefox no longer running in FJ. How is 'commenting out' done? Just delete the ...

Re: EBook Reader For Linux Mint 18.1
I have several kobo 64GB ARCs -they work fine with Mint but what I prefer is my Samsung Tab 8. I use Moon+ Reader Pro e-reader app. It's the best. No worries. I have downloaded over 1100 books. I use a 64GB microSD card with Samsung. Has been working for the last 2 yrs or more. Works with Calibre too.

But is it really feasible to use Maui? considering one of its moderators response from the same post here https://forums.mauilinux.org/showthread.php?tid=24650 There are unfortunately other plans. Maui isn't going to release new ISO releases so new users might be better off using Netrunner instead o...

1984 is here, we live in a global police state and the enemy has the advantage. In EU you have better protection, in the US you live in a corporate police state. The NSA gets all your stuff, unless your name is Edward Snowden. And if you full-proof your computer, your smart phone will get you. Safe...

That sounds grand . I love crosswords and didn't know one exists in the repos though even if I did, I wouldn't know about finding and installing those other files because I'm still a linux idiot.

FF, IE (win) not allowing access to linuxmint.com
Is it only me, but FF and IE -when I couldn't get in, are not allowing access to linuxmint.com. Something about certificate expired at 6:59 pm Feb 23/17.
I forged ahead despite their warnings.
EDIT: All is well now. No more cert. warnings.

Re: Should I download/update Linux Firmware 1.157.8?
No. Which particular kernel withing a series is patched depends on both the series number and what distro you are running. 4.4.0-45 is the Ubuntu patched version in the 4.4 series. I'm not sure what the second is Pjotr mentioned so if it came after Dirty Cow I could be wrong and you would need to m...
