for the record,
gamemode helps but CPU lag is still there in big enough to make it unplayable (decreased spikes from 3 sec to 1 sec) but PoE works well with Steam (i get the same performance in Steam is I had before with 6.3 staging)

Re: 21.1 cinn How install older version of wine
as i wrote above, you need to install it system wide first by the following command in terminal
sudo wget http://winetricks.org/winetricks -O /usr/bin/winetricks
sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/winetricks

Re: 21.1 cinn How install older version of wine
first you would add the latest winetricks to the system (you only need to do it once, the Ubuntu ppa is out of date since forever and no one knows why they don't update it, same as the stable version for wine in Ubuntu is 3.0) sudo wget http://winetricks.org/winetricks -O /usr/bin/winetricks sudo ch...

kisak-mesa ppa breaks Steam (and vica versa)
I upgraded from 19.3 to 21.1 2 days ago (I always keep the distros till end of live) and run into the problem with mesa and Steam with 32bit libraries after installation, installing kisak ppa works but won't allow to install Steam (cannot install the requested libraries and if you do it manually the...

Re: 21.1 cinn How install older version of wine
you can always use system winetricks with PoL via a shell for the specific wineprefix, so you would have the latest version

Re: Uninstall gpu drivers over bootable usb-stick
my system freezes on start too after the latest Mesa GPU driver update yesterday
update today just made it worse
guess is to either wait for another update tonight and hope it will be fixed or roll back to older version of mesa

thx, did not thought about the obvious solution
with the new user the card is recognised as it should be, still don't know what the original problem is but the system is working now

Re: Linux Mint is released with very old kernels
I found this topic because I was searching for a way to upgrade my kernel. And I just wanted to say that Mint 17.2 as you can download it at the moment is just usable for old hardware. I bought a new PC last week and got the new Mint (just because I use it for a very long time now) but get the hardw...
