Re: When is Elyssa Kde coming out?
Well since the release out currently is beta, expect to wait until at least the full 'stable' version is out, and then possibly a t more, since its a community edition, not the standard linux mint release (which uses gnome). Thisquestion might be better asked on the kde edition community support are...

What do you folks make of THAT? (Since I know a few of you have some Stallman esque leanings--(see people bashing gnome because of .net compliance in the form of mono)

Virtualbox installs
when I install a distro in virtualbox (in this case, debian sid), does it recognise all the hardware that I have on my pc at the moment (in terms of graphics cards and processors)? I ask, because I thought it might be quite handy if I installed partition image, and after an install I could just rest...

Re: Knoppix Install...
just to clarify then, sidux is essentially debian sid, but with a live cd install, and so no matter what the install date, I would effectively have an up to date system (like arch linux or similar). DO you think it would be possible to edit sid like I would be able to edit knoppix? Sidux looks very ...

Re: Favorite compiz feature?
I personally like desktop wall smooth transition between workspaces, since I have a 1240x1028 desktop, and it gets filled pretty quickly. I also have expo enable, so I can see whats happening on what desktop at any one time. I also like the window previews and writing in fire on desktop. Just to nan...

Knoppix Install...
I intend on creating myself a nice respin of knoppix for personal use (basically, the system I crave...debian based, up to date etc etc), and I was just wondering, has anyone tried a hard drive install of knoppix at all, and what would be the basic differences between a knoppix hard drive install an...

Re: HOW DO YOU SAY LINUX?
Best way to say it?
Probably I'd use
-stability
-free
-easy (but NOT for copmlete newbs...YET!)
-free
also, the correct pronunciation of linux is "lin-ucks" (thats how linux says it so I'd presume thats how it's meant to be said)

Installing windows after mint
OKay...due to some, shall we say URGES, I havent been able to play some of the games I want to play to their fullest extent under wine because of its limitations. And I would quite like to install windows on a small partition in order to play some games...last time I tried this, windows removed the ...

HFS support? Ipod classic...
Just a quick question, I was wondering if Linux Mint had HFS+ support as default...since I figured that if it did i might not have to attempt to use my VMware'd XP to do the initial setup of my ipod classic when it comes...if anyone has had any experience with the ipod classic and linux mint, leave ...

I managed to make and install the package, so if anyone else needs libgpod 0.6.0-1 to use an iPod classic with gtkpod and similar apps (eg tripod and amarok) then let me know and I can host ot somewhere for y'all.

libgpod
okay, I just sold out and bought myself an ipod classic 80GB, and i realised that I cant currently use it with mint because the mint repos dont have libgpod 0.6.0 in them, so I tried installing from source, but since I'm basically a *tard when it comes to the command line and compliling from source,...

X11 mouse themes and Beryl/Compiz
I have slight issue with a mosue theme I am trying to install from gnome-look.org, basically, I dragged the tarball onto the themes/window look and feel menu (after a right click onto the desktop) and then selected the mouse theme, and restart the x server with a quick crl-alt-backspace. Now the mou...

Re: Firefox Crashes Randomly
OK, it would help when you make requests like this to post up the output from the program when you run it from terminal. In this instance, open up the terminal and type 'firefox'. This will start firefox, and when it crashes, there will be some sort of message on the terminal where you typed the com...

NO cinelerra...
Ok, I got myself a nice new video camera for christmas, but all I can find to do editing with in the repos is kino. thats ok as long as I don't want to do anything REALLY interesting with the video, like overlaying two video tracks, or whatever. SO i figured cinelerra would be a good place to start,...

I may have mentioned this a few times before, but it never hurts to try again...I have started a google group (not the turkish one) dedicated to linux mint. Only about 3 members atm, including myself, but anyone who is willing to offer expertise to people who prefer email or for whatever reason can'...

Re: Any other distros to recommend?
nearly all distros are based on ubuntu Not technically true. Ubuntu has shot forward people's perceptions linux, it's not just a geeky toy now (as debian, slackware and Gentoo are, as well as Redhat/Fedora, which are the 4 roots of all distros today, since ubuntu is debian based) and it doesnt have...
