Occasionally I must touch something which starts the speakers outputting which because of my home environment is unacceptable. Is there any way I can disable t...

My question is, do I really need to install all the updates that show up in the task bar? For example today it had two PDF updates which I did not install because I haven't had any problem...

Re: Open DNS not working.

The two screenshots above are as to IPv6 very different; the top one with the fe80: IPv6 address means that no (actual) IPv6 address has been assigned; the fe80: IPv6 addresses are "virtual", so-called link-local addresses that everyone has whether or not they have actual IPv6 connectivity (which y...

Re: Open DNS not working.

can you test setting the dns on a live mint both ipv4-6 and see there are the same results. anytime you set or change anything network needs to restart sudo service network-manager restart setting a dns should not take more than a few comments, so at least you need to know what is your issue. the c...

Re: Open DNS not working.

I have been looking on youtube and came across a video showing how to setup a DNS on Mint. The shot below of my Network is exactly what they had, i.e it shows the IPv6 line. So it would appear to me in the case of setting up IPV4 the IPv6 doesn't apply. Having said that I have added the IPv6 setup y...

Re: Open DNS not working.

Can not at the moment test it but Id assume things would work for you if you enter the IPv6 DNS addresses in the IPv6 tab for your connection in the same manner as for IPv4. I.e., as per the below. Restart the connection or reboot after saving those settings. opendns-ipv6.png [NOTE] The above pictu...

Re: Open DNS not working.

what changes have you made? what's in your /etc/hosts ? what about /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf do you have ipv6? http://test-ipv6.com/ setting a dns is straight forward easy using the network tray icon unless you started modifying files and settings. did you mess with /etc/resolv.conf A...

Re: Open DNS not working.

I think there might be a fault somewhere because I have to select the " require IPv4 addressing for this connection to complete " box so as to get the Open DNS figures to replace the original DNS. Re-reading this, this by the way suggests you have an ipv6 rather than ipv4 connection. And indeed, th...
