Re: Synaptic not displaying all packages

Here's a tricky one for you in a similar vain. I'm using LM6KDE (on the whole really good, but has plenty of bugs/annoyances, KDE4 being one of them, but for now I'll stick to the topic). Background: I'm updating my home PC which doesn't have an Internet connection available, so I update my work lap...

Re: Mint KDE 6 login problem

Mikeyb,

That's one way I guess. Didn't think of doing it that way. I simply reinstalled it, but I'll remember your solution the next time (hope not) it happens.

Now if I could just move my panel widgets .......

Re: Apt-Get Local Directory Update/Install

Husse, I've tried APTonCD and at the moment it doesn't do for me what it should. It doesn't seem to be installed by default on Linux Mint KDE RC1. No big deal there, simple to install with sudo apt-get install aptoncd Just be aware that "aptoncd_0.1.98-0ubuntu3_all.deb" has a bug in that v...

Re: NTFS read and write to Windows partition

Phonicsmonkey, I'm using Linux Mint KDE 6 RC1, type this in a terminal session: sudo apt-get install mintdisk or you can use Synaptic Package Manager, search on mintdisk. It's all there in the default repos.... Hint: use ALT-F2 (from the desktop) to quickly search for installed applications. Type &q...

Re: Apt-Get Local Directory Update/Install

Thanks Husse.

Seems to be what I need. Will read up on APTonCD some more. Would be nice if it was APTonUSB too!

Apt-Get Local Directory Update/Install

When I install/update packages via Apt-Get that require downloading, Apt caches those files to /var/cache/apt/archives. How do I transfer and use those .deb files to then update a system that is offline? Apt-get on the offline system doesn't work because AFAIK I can't point to a local directory as a...

Re: Mint KDE 6 login problem

I have the same problem. After installing the latest updates (somewhere between 16/03/09 to 20/03/09) and also installing LXDE, I cannot login to my system. The console reports a $DISPLAY not configured error, and I don't know enough to solve it. If I login via the console and STARTX, my LXDE sessio...
