Re: Cinnamon Themes

The theme is intended for Cinnamon 3.2 or above introduced with Mint 18.1. I would suggest upgrading to 18.1 or later. Ahh, ok, I missed that. I'm a little behind the times still. I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I will live with it for now until I get to upgrading. Still, I love the the...

Re: Cinnamon Themes

I am using Linux Mint 18 (Sarah) and Cinnamon 3.0.7. I have cycled through all the settings on the script, including none. The script only changes the transparency of the pop up screen when I click on the menu button. But, when I right click on anything on my menu bar (like Chrome if I have it launc...

Re: Cinnamon Themes

Hello! I only just discovered these downloadable themes and I really dig the Cinnamox-Heather theme! And I appreciate having some control over the transparency, being a less transparency person, I suppose. :D I got one issue I am finding with the theme though, and hopefully, you, or another, can hel...

Re: [LM18MATE]-Unable To Mount Android SmartPhone?

Try a different USB port and not one on an external hub as I haven't had much luck mounting any phone on an external hub with other devices connected and see messages similar to usb 3-5.1: USB disconnect, device number 17 [10466.820534] usb 3-5.1: new high-speed USB device number 18 using xhci_hcd ...

Yeah, I guess I was. I know the pencil icon is the edit option... I managed that twice in a row. Maybe I was just tired... I hope.

Thanks, man!

Re: Moving Home Folder to Storage Drive

Wow. I went to edit the first post and put SOLVED in the subject line, and submit. And it just posts a new post at end of the thread.

I did this on a couple of my other posts I had. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Message board fail.

{SOLVED} Re: Moving Home Folder to Storage Drive

Recently I built a new PC and installed Linux Mint 18 (Cinnamon) for the OS. I'm still a bit of a noob with Linux, and I'm wrestling with the best way to setup my SSD/HDD drives. This is also the first time I have ever used an SSD drive, so I have been researching how best to optimize this for the ...

Re: Moving Home Folder to Storage Drive

Well, if the games reside in /home/steam then yes it's loading from the spinning drive now which is sdb according to /dev/sdb1 on /home type ext4 (rw,noatime,errors=remount-ro,data=ordered) I guess you could move the games folder to the ssd depending on how much space is available. Is the performan...

Re: Moving Home Folder to Storage Drive

It might just be slower loading from a spinning disk. Let me see Yes, I am thinking it must be loading from the HDD now, instead of the SDD. Is there a way I can have a folder on the SDD to install it to? Or I am wondering if I should just make a partition on the SDD for the game and have it instal...

Re: Moving Home Folder to Storage Drive

OK, that looks good. Is everything working as expected :?: For the most part, I would say yes. Sometimes, when I double click on the Home folder on my Desktop, it launches two file managers. Not always, just sometimes. And I'm trying to figure out the issue with the Games folder on the HDD previous...

Re: HDMI Out of Range on Reboot, After Install

Sorry for the late reply, I don't have notifications on for this forum it seems. And I should have been way clearer - I booted using the built in graphics card, installed the latest Nvidia drivers, then I was halfway, and after messing with GRUB, adding nomodeset, I have it working. And at this poi...

Sure thing, I will post it here when I get home this evening. Back at the grind already *sigh*. Hope you guys have a good day.

Re: Moving Home Folder to Storage Drive

The principle difference between /media and /mnt: Volumes mounted below /media will get displayed as an desktop icon , if mounted below /mnt there is no icon for the mounted volume on the desktop. A matter of taste. Thank you, Cosmo! I figured out that difference last night after when the Storage D...

Re: Moving Home Folder to Storage Drive

Ok, I just found a few hidden files under /home/user where applications I install appear to being saved to. So I guess when I install an application now it is being stored to the HDD. Awesome, if I understand that correctly. No, that's not correct. When you install a program in the normal way, the ...

Re: Moving Home Folder to Storage Drive

Ok, I got through it, and it looks mostly successful. I edited the fstab file to get rid of the old reference to the previous mount point. I rebooted just for good measure to make sure everything was clean. Now I'm starting to notice some odd things, but probably mostly because I did not understand ...

Re: Moving Home Folder to Storage Drive

Austin, and WharfRat - thanks for the replies and explanations. That helps a lot. And $USER is environment variable - got it!
