Re: LM19.1 - Hibernate requires authentication

I've reverted to 18.3 as there seems to be no answer to the authentication request on hibernation.

Interestingly, hibernation works out of the box on my laptop, with the only caution I took being to alter the partition sizes to make the swap partition a little larger than the memory.

Re: Mint 18.3 File Copy from Synology NAS to Mint Slow

Update: So, after a morning doing resets and reinstalls, it turns out that the basic 18.3 iso with Kernel 4.10.0-38 works fine for all copying to and from the server. Upgrading everything but the Linux kernel saw everything still copy OK. Upgrading to 4.15.0-45 caused the copy from server problem. H...

Re: Mint 18.3 File Copy from Synology NAS to Mint Slow

Mine's a DS115j, and hasn't had any software changes since purchase. It used to copy back to the PC OK but something changed during my use of LM 18 to put the pause in, but not for all systems of copying so I can only assume it's a problem with something in LM, or something LM uses (as both Thunar a...

Re: Mint 18.3 File Copy from Synology NAS to Mint Slow

Update: I installed Thunar to see if that was any different, but it has the same problem as Nemo (in Cinnamon), 30 second delay before copy of any file. I then installed Konqueror and that works OK. So it appears there is a bug somewhere (maybe in Gnome?) that's causing the 30 second delay. How do I...

LM19.1 - Hibernate requires authentication

Hi, Hopefully this isn't a hard problem. I've just upgraded to LM 19.1, and hibernate has been an issue (not unexpected). I'm using a two year old laptop (Acer), with a swap partition, and I'm not using LVM. I've managed to get to the point where systemctl hibernate works, but only with a request to...

Re: Mint 18.3 File Copy from Synology NAS to Mint Slow

Update: I've just upgraded to 19.1, but this has not solved the problem, there's still a 30 second delay before a file actually copies.

Re: Mint 18.3 File Copy from Synology NAS to Mint Slow

Addendum: Two additional pieces of information from a bit of testing: 1. VLC Media Player struggles to open and play an MP3 file that's on the NAS 2. Using CLI CP command, files/directories seem to copy as per normal. I am currently summizing that the problem lies in the GUI somewhere, perhaps in Ci...

Mint 18.3 File Copy from Synology NAS to Mint Slow

Hi, I've come up against a strange problem. I have a Synology NAS shared to my laptop running Mint 18.3. Until recently all file operations in the GUI worked to and from as expected over the network. Now something has changed on the laptop (no changes have been applied to the Synology as it has no i...

Re: That Hibernation Problem Again (Laptop)

OK, so having had no response, I decided to try a fresh install, only this time not with LVM. Once I had disabled safeboot, switched to kernel 4.10.0.42 and slightly expanded the swap partition, hibernation worked fine. So it would appear that Mint can't handle hibernation on swap volume on LVM.

That Hibernation Problem Again (Laptop)

Hi all, OK so I have a hibernation problem... I have a laptop that I installed Linux Mint 18.2 on last year (2017) and after making sure the Swap volume was large enough Hibernation worked on it most times (it failed on the recent 4.13.x kernels, but was ok on 4.10.0-42). So, after some issues with ...

Re: Bluetooth Problems

OK, I've had a chance to get hold of one of my other, newer bluetooth dongles, and it's working. So it seems that the chipset of the older one simply isn't liked by Mint. For information the 'new' one is a Cambridge Silicon Radio Ltd device according to dmesg.

Re: Bluetooth Problems

I've just updated to Mint 17.3 Rosa, that didn't work, Bluetooth still won't stay connected. I've updated to the latest available kernel (4.2.0-19) and still no luck. :(

Re: Bluetooth Problems

Update: I have been able to get the basic connection to my printer to stay on, up until I actually try to print a page when the connection drops. Then I get an error message: "Connection Failed: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the messag...

Re: Bluetooth Problems

I don't think it's a timeout problem. These connections are made and lost within a couple of seconds. The printer is actually active and waiting for information which the laptop ceases to send because the connection drops. It then complains that the connection isn't open for it to send the document ...

Re: Bluetooth Problems

I ran:

Code: Select all

$ dmesg | grep -B10 bluetooth
$
...but didn't get any result. This was after a complete restart of the laptop, then connecting my printer via bluetooth (which again lost it's connection).

Bluetooth Problems

Hi, I'm a newbie to Linux Mint, having just started the transition to it from Windows 7. On my laptop I'm having trouble getting Bluetooth to stay connected. It switches on fine, scans and finds devices fine, and pairs fine. But with all devices, after just a few seconds of being paired and connecte...
