Wonder; great to hear it worked for you too. :D
I'm happy to keep LM17 KDE on my main drive now.
DeMus.... you're a STAR!! Thank you again; it was driving me mad! If ever we should meet, I owe you a beer!

Re: Screen tearing

OK, so i just installed "LM 17 MATE" on on a spare partition. Wow, what a difference! I am running Compiz and Nvidia 331 driver and everything is peachy! The system is extremely responsive and I have ZERO screen tearing. There are some issues with the current version of Compiz in the repo'...

Yes, v-sync is set to auto in Desktop Effects and also checked in Nvidia Settings. Powermizer is set to Prefer Maximum Performance. OpenGL settings have been switched. Still no joy. :(

Re: Screen tearing

Thanks for the info Wonder. I was planning on using Compiz as the WM on MATE. Everything looks great on Ubuntu (which uses Compiz as default) so I assumed I would get similar results. Have you tried Compiz? I will give it a go when I get a chance 'cos I'm not ready to turn my back on Mint just yet.....

Re: Screen tearing

Hi, problem is likely due to the DE you use in Mint17 (cinnamon, mate...) check this link, a lot of testing was done. https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=7511.0 Thank you very much PatH57 for your response; I have been toiling with this for far too long; I will leave it now. Seems a little to...

[SOLVED]Screen tearing

I am getting terrible screen tearing on KDE 17 on both VLC and Dragon Player. Although this is only one of many issues for me with this release, it is definately one of the most annoying. I am using Nvidia-updates driver on a GTX 660ti. After trying every possible setting, I decided to install Ubunt...

Device Notifier bug.

I haven't seen anyone else post about this "bug" so I'm wondering if it's only happening on my setup, although I doubt it as LM 13 works fine. I can connect a flash drive, HDD, or insert a CD/DVD and Device Notifier will pop-up and allow me to browse files etc. as I would expect, however, ...

Re: Nvidia driver updated, activated but not in use

This appears to be a problem with Jockey/Additional Drivers in LM13 reporting driver not in use, when, in actual fact, they are installed and functioning correctly.
You have direct rendering enabled so I assume you're OK.
If everything is working as expected you should just ignore it.

Re: Problems instaling Nvidia 319 driver.

Thanks for the replies. gordintoronto: The reason I don't want to stick with 304 is because I like to play games on Steam, and was planning to upgrade my card to a 560ti, which I just have this evening. :D Snapcase: Thanks, you pretty much confirmed what I had to do. I let it boot to tty1, then made...

[solved] Problems instaling Nvidia 319 driver.

Been running Nvidia 310 driver flawlessly on Mint 13 KDE for some time now with a GTX 260 graphics card, however, the latest updates have installed Nvidia 319 and dumped me into a tty1. If I try "startx" It tells me something like "the kernel module is 304 and the driver is 319" ...

Re: Revert graphics driver to default LM13

Well, this is a bit of a pain in the arse! I'm running Mint 13 KDE and have been happily gaming on "nvidia 310 driver" until I arrived back from a two-week holiday last night to find my updates (to 319) dumped me into a tty1. Managed to get back to a GUI by removing nvidia-319 and installi...

Re: Google Earth & Lisa

Hi jadek, I really don't think it matters, but I had already installed google-earth from synaptic. I read on the google-earth webstie that "lsb-core" and "lsb-base" were required. They were both already installed, but it would not launch, so I simply marked them for reinstallatio...

I had the same problem.
Using synaptic to reinstall "lsb-base" and "lsb-core" solved the issue for me.
Good luck. :)

Re: Front Panel Sound+Mic Doesn't Work

Having similar problems. Speakers work ok with my Xonar DG card, but that's it! After weeks of trying, I cannot enable the mic on this card or the mic on my webcam. It appears to be a kernel issue so I guess we'll have to wait until it's fixed. Unfortunately I am still having this issue with Mint 13...
