Here is the entire path to the folder to be deleted (Just delete the last folder not the entire path.):

Firefox browser - speed up mouse scrolling

To speed up mouse wheel scrolling in Firefox in Linux Mint, make an adjustment to Firefox about:config settings. This also makes scrolling smoother and less jumpy. (This Foxfire edit also works in other Ubuntu based Linux distros. This also will work on Pale Moon browser.) In the Firefox URL field t...

Fix Laptop Screen Brightness Slider in Linux Mint 17.3

The screen brightness slider in the Power Manager applet of Linux Mint 17.3 'Rosa' Cinnamon didn't adjust the screen brightness on my Dell Inspiron 17r 5737 laptop. The laptop uses Intel HD 4000 graphics. I was able to get the screen brightness slider and the f4 & f5 keyboard screen brightness adjus...

Re: Driver problems with 17.3 install - ethernet, etc...

I was having wifi driver problems with some Ubuntu based distros (Linux-Lite, Chromixium). I installed the latest stable Linux kernel, 4.3.3, replacing 3.19 and immediately my wifi was detected. I upgraded all of my Ubuntu based Linux distros to Linux kernel 4.3.3. Just upgraded my Linux Mint Cinnam...

Re: (SOLVED) LM version not changed in Grub after 17.3 updat

There is no need for an additional software in this case. Simply entering in a terminal sudo update-grub does the job. For ongoing maintenance of Grub, the Grub Customizer program is much easier than typing commands into a terminal interface. I'm not adverse to typing terminal commands. I was a Uni...

Re: Install GRUB on /dev/sda2

I've used this method on a desktop pc with a 3TB disk and UEFI/GPT and also on a laptop using MBR. I have done this in the past few months and added a new distro in the past few days using this method. Both have multiple distros loaded (one has 10 distros in grub and one has 6 distros plus Windows 1...

Re: LM version not changed in Grub after 17.3 update

I'm a newby to Linux. After my upgrade from Linux Mint 17.2 to 17.3, grub still displayed 17.2 even though it is booting 17.3. I have installed a grub graphical editor called "Grub Customizer". Using this program, it's easy to change titles, move boot order of distros or Windows, etc. I just edited ...

Re: Install GRUB on /dev/sda2

I've installed Mint using the graphical install and put grub in /dev/sda2. When using the graphical installer, when it gets to the screen "install Mint along side", "erase disk and install Mint" or "something else", choose "something else". The graphical installer will take you to a gparted screen. ...

Re: Linux Mint 17.3 “Rosa” Cinnamon released!

Thanks for all of your hard work! I just upgraded from Linux Mint 17.2 'Rafaela' Cinnamon 64-bit to Linux Mint 17.3 'Rosa' Cinnamon 64-bit. It took about 10-minutes to download and run the upgrade on my Dell Optiplex 790 desktop (i7 2600 - 16gb ram). Two most obvious changes. The default wallpaper n...

10 Bootable Linux Distros on hard disk

I have an old Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop with a 320gb hard disk, 4gb ram and a Core 2 Duo T9600 cpu (upgraded from the original Pentium T4200). I bought it in 2009 and it came with Windows Vista. Install Grub Customizer, a Graphical Grub Editor

Install Grub Customizer , a Graphical Grub Boot Manager Editor. Much easier than editing Grub by hand. Why risk a manual edit and fat-fingering something then ending up and a non-working copy of Grub? To me, it's not worth the risk. This program worked well for me on both MBR and UEFI/GPT hard disks...

Re: Power off Dell laptop quickly in Linux Mint

I'm using Linux Mint on a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop and Dell Inspiron 17r 5737 laptop and both shutdown within about 30 seconds. I'm wondering if there is an underlying hard disk problem. When a system takes a long time to perform hard disk operations, it can be spending a lot of time seeking and at...

Re: upgrade 8.1 to win 10 before Linux install

I had an old Dell Inspirion 1545 laptop laying around with Windows 7 after I bought a new, faster laptop to replace it. I upgraded it to Windows 10 and then installed Linux Mint, also. But I didn't stop there. Chromebooks looked interesting, so I also loaded Chromixium (a Linux Ubuntu based Chromebo...
