Re: update firefox in mint 18

Ostacized: Nothing was wrong with my steam client until I did the Firefox 48 update/upgrade. I purged Firefox, and installed and older one, now everything is back to normal. (Thank Gawd). Anyways, I found it odd that a Firefox update would be able to change my desktop and other program software. You...

Re: update firefox in mint 18

I'm using epiphany now.

I just realized I can't open my steam client now either.

I'm going to remove 48 and install 47.

This update really screwed me up.

Re: update firefox in mint 18

I can't even right-click a link and open it in a new tab.

I'm going back to the old Firefox.

This is ridiculous.

Re: update firefox in mint 18

I'm still running 17.2. The new FireFox update wiped out my desktop settings and customizations. Also, only about 6 of my 50 bookmarks were left. And...I'm now running a new batch of updates now that I have the new FireFox. I'm not too happy about losing my personalizations. This is the last time I ...

I load mine through Steam with no problem. I'm using Mint 17.2.

What are you using to load your game?

Re: Desktop can't see android phone

On my phone in "connect to pc" I had to check the camera button, rather than "Install Driver" or "Media device(MTP).

That's what worked for me.

Re: Borked 17.2 cinnamon won't boot from grub

OK, the first I was able to do, but I wasn't able to log-in to my network.

The second I ran also from my live usb, but it didn't work either.

I'm just going to do a fresh install. I'm not going to stress on it.

Thanks

Re: Borked 17.2 cinnamon won't boot from grub

OK, thanks guys. I do have a dual-boot also. Two instances of 17.2 just in case I do screw things up. :D

I'm going to try both of your suggestions, but I'm not sure about the first one. But I'll give it a go.

Will report back ASAP.

Thanks again!!

Borked 17.2 cinnamon won't boot from grub

Hi, I borked my 17.2 installation while trying to install google earth. The grub menu appears and I can select 17.2 Rafaela, but the log in screen never appears. While waiting for login screen, the screen says Ubuntu 17.2, not linux mint!? I can move back and forth with ctrl+alt+tab and I do have a ...

Re: Error message when trying to run Surfingers on Steam.

It looks like you need the 32-bit library(s) installed.

Some games need that particular library(s).

I'm not familiar with that game though.

There are a couple of 32-bit libraries you need in the repositories.

Yeah, Football Manager is pretty much my favorite game now. I purchased the game for the first time years ago, thinking it was an "American Football" game.

Re: Steam won't support Linux Mint

I switched from Ubuntu to Linux Mint a while back. I use Steam with no problem on LM 17.2. In fact, I've had no game crashes since Steam came out for Ubuntu, unlike Windows. Yes, I use to have to dual-boot, but, thanks to Steam porting, I no longer have a dual-boot system. My understanding is - ther...

alt+tab works when there is a pause in gameplay. Then I use ctrl+alt+>arrow key(cursor key) to change desktops.

I downloaded Civilization V from Steam the other day. It's working great with my Radeon 7640G with fglrx driver installed.

Re: Linux and games (Steam)

Yeah, the moment I realized I could play my favorite game Football Manager with Steam linux, I dropped my dual-boot windows set-up and now only use Mint. Civilizaton V is on sale at the Steam store and can be played with the Linux version of Steam. I'm going to grab it and will report back in the ne...

Windows is like a high maintenance woman that is constantly stabbing you in back.

As for games, we now have Steam.

Lose the spyware and the headache.

Re: Linux and games (Steam)

I'm playing football manager through Steam and I had to change to amd/ati proprietary driver fglrx. Now it works fine. Is that on Mint? Every time I've tried FM15 on Mint it crashes on the intro screen but it runs no problem on Ubuntu (using a Radeon HD 5450 with open source driver). Currently runn...
