Re: Mint 17.2 DVD won't work in HP 15

I can't speak for the DVD, however I have an HP all-in-one desktop that I am able to use secure boot with Rafaela 17.2 Cinnamon or Mate with a USB. i'd suggest maybe getting a thumb drive if you have one lying around and making a bootable USB so you can install Mint. It's also faster than the DVD.

Re: No sound on Mint 17.2 with Intel ICH5 audio controller

Oh yes. The Dell Dimension 4600 and sound on Linux. I've owned this PC and it is a notorious monster of a computer because it is one of the very few that come with OEM hardware that does not have (to this day, 12 years later) very good support in Linux. If I am not mistaken, this computer usually ha...

Re: You-tube says I need Flash Pluggin

If I am not mistaken, YouTube inside Mozilla Firefox on Linux Mint 17.2 should automatically default to HTML5 playback. Otherwise I would suggest going to http://www.youtube.com/HTML5 to force it to use HTML5 when available.

Re: MBR/GPT Question

Hi there, I love academic philosophical type questions. Here is the explanation you are (hopefully) looking for: So the question is, would there be any real-world advantage to reinstalling Mint using GPT on the SSD at this point? So essentially GPT (GUID Partition Table) has a lot more functionality...

Re: USB 3 ports not recognised in Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon

Have you tried going to Menu > Administration > Driver Manager to see if a non-free driver is needing to be enabled for the USB 3.0? I would also check your UEFI/BiOS settings to see if the USB 3.0 ports are enabled for the OS to use. Please let me know if this works for you first.

Re: Blurred badly coloured youtube on firefox

I have a few questions so I can help you troubleshoot. What version of Firefox are you using. Are you using the Flash version of YouTube or HTML5. What kind of graphics card are you using. Computer specifications? These are all relevant as it would be hard to troubleshoot without knowing what we're ...
