Re: Best way to recover files from encrypted user folder?

Hmmmm, this will take a while 8) Once upon a time, you could use a now antiqued application called nautilus to perform the task. And that is maybe the way I did it before. When forcing this old app into the live DVD, I find the /home/USER folder. And there "Access-Your-Private-Data.desktop." and a f...

[SOLVED] Best way to recover files from encrypted user folder?

Hi! What is the best and easiest way to recover files from encrypted user folder? I can log into the system, and I see the files, but I understand it is difficult to copy the files to say an external disk. Having Xorg driver problem, tried many ways to install drivers, but I think the system is look...

Re: T-shirt spam

Looked nice, so I bought one! :D

Payed with PayPal, and the site looked legit.

If nothing arrives, I hope the nice guys at PayPal will sort it out.

Nothing taken from account yet.

Re: tablet version of mint

I myself have desperately searched for a Linux tablet, and only found one candidate. It is the i3 / i5 version of Acer Aspire Switch 11" 2 in 1 tablet. There are some patches that seems to allow it to run Ubuntu perfectly well. http://liliputing.com/2015/03/ubuntu-on-the-acer-aspire-switch-11-2-in-1...

Re: ExtremeTech Article: Linux’s Worst-Case Scenario

I just hope the hactivists keep up and have some bios flashes once that lock down day comes because, if the only option is to "secure boot" then that is the door closing on the computing kingdom. And as a n00b, I have always thought that a network capable "secure boot" BIOS is a open back door for ...

Re: Nice OS - but do not use auto update!

Hi! Thank you everybody for your answers! Yes, I only used the "Update Manager", and tried to update everything available. It ended with some files not there in some repository site, and when rebooted got a "Cinnamon just crashed" message  But, with this guide at http://forums.linuxmint.com/vi...

Nice OS - but do not use auto update!

Hi! Really nice OS, but do not use auto update! It does not work as intended, and points at non existent files in one case, many instances. The result is on reboot, of cause, that "Cinnamon has crashed" and you can not login, or repair, not without a PhD in Linux. So, nice try, and thank you for the...
