Re: boot-repair

I just installed linux mint 18.2 beta on a test system, (32 Gb ssd + 160 Gb Hdd), but it didn't boot.
Looks like the boot manager didn't install.
The tip in the first post got it working for me.
So thank you.

Re: Emulators on Mint?

So it looks like Daphne needs the x-server to run.
Can't help you on that one.

Re: Emulators on Mint?

Does it work if you start it from the gui? I run Daphne from the Mahcade frontend, so i am also bypassing the Daphneloader gui. This is the ini i use for Daphne: [name] vldp -framefile /home/mame/emulators/laserdisk/[name]/[name].txt -fullscreen -blank_searches -min_seek_delay 1000 -seek_frames_per_...

Re: Emulators on Mint?

I am afraid the Daphne project has been abandoned, and the developer doesn't want to release the source code.
He is working on a hardware board named Dexter to replace Daphne, and that, of course is not free.
So we have to make do with wat we have.

Re: Emulators on Mint?

On linux mint 17.3 Xfce 64 bit Daphne worked out of the box for me, (as far as i recall, it's been a while).
On linux mint 18 it did not. I think installing 32 bit libs did the trick.
I will try again on a fresh install to recall.

Re: Emulators on Mint?

Here's a thread on Daphne-Emu forum i am following: https://www.daphne-emu.com:9443/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3024 He (Frotz) has compiled a 64 bit executable of Daphne for linux (debian). It worked for me as well on linux mint 64 bit. The problem is Daphneloader.bin which is closed source, Frotz i...

Re: Radeon 7870 XT RGB pixels on install, rescue mode only

I am having the same problems with this GPU.
Seems like it is not recognized properly.
It only boots up in safe mode, using software rendering.

Re: Mint 18.1 and Hybrid graphics card problem

I have somewhat the same problem. I had a HP Pavilion dv6-3011sd, which i donated to my mother. It has Amd 4250 onboard graphics and a Amd 5470 graphics 'card'. This only works right on Windows 7, i tried upgrading to windows 10, but on windows 10 there was only a skeleton driver for the 4250, it co...

The Padoka PPA gives you the most recent drivers: https://launchpad.net/~paulo-miguel-dia ... buntu/mesa.
Just add it to Synaptic.

Amd 7870 XT

Hello. This card doesn't seem to be supported in Linux Mint with the opensource driver. I have installed Linux Mint 18 with a AMD 5850 and it worked fine. I have since upgraded the graphics card to an Amd 7870 XT, and now it boots to a black screen with some garbled letters, then it reboots using th...

Re: mame and roms

Hello. You can ad the sdlmame4ubuntu ppa: http://sdlmame.wallyweek.org/ to get mame 0.164, which has Mess included. If you feel adventurous you can compile the newest mame yourself from sourcecode, but that's challenging, as Mint's gcc compiler is too old, (4.8, and it needs to be 4.9). Make sure Ma...

Re: Emulators on Mint?

Trying to install Kega Fusion. I guess I need to install the 32 bit architectures to get it to work. Don't know how to do that - ? Mame - isn't that to emulate coin operated video games - ? It shouldn't be necessary to install 32 bit libs, i switched from 64 bit Lubuntu to 64 bit Mint Xfce on my mu...
