Re: CTRL+ALT+DEL => System Monitor ?

My fingers fly not to Ctrl-Alt-Del (which in windows does not immediately yield Task Manager aka System Monitor) but to Ctrl-Shift-Esc (which does). But the keyboard binding program rejects this combo and just reverts to unassigned . In fact some experimenting suggests it won't accept Esc full stop....

Re: Step By Step Guide On Dual Boot Installation Windows + Mint

Thanks for the help - yes the profile folder is the same (on the common data partition)
FF versions change frequently, the unix version right now is 45.0.ADDED this niggle has lasted for months through at least half a dozen version upgrades. the win version is up to date

Re: Step By Step Guide On Dual Boot Installation Windows + Mint

My dual boot is working fine thanks, using a common data partition, so TB has one single data store (as does office etc), and firefox has the same extensions, history and bookmarks. Brilliant. It's a niggle, but when I switch between Mint and Win 7 the extensions in FF always come up disabled and ne...

login dialog suggestion

When I boot into Mint (17) then it seems to me that sometimes I am asked usually asked for password but occasionally for username and then password. I am sure there is some reasoning to it, that isn't my point. My point is that the appearance of both dialogs is identical, so I have several times fou...

Re: dual boot data drive not found when thunderbird/firefox

Forward slash. Looks so insignificant, but it's the root of the entire file system in every Linux. It's there on its own in the original line and needs to be in your new line too, but with the path from there to wherever you want to mount it. It's the /home/john/data part in my example and I'd advi...

dual boot data drive not found when thunderbird/firefox load

I have a dual boot win 7 - mint 17.2 system, with a data partition. This is much better than before because linux no longer complains that the data (which was in the win partition) is locked. It is a success, my bookmarks and especially my email are synced correctly (a single local mail store on the...

Re: No dual boot choice Win7/ Mint 17.2

Pardon my ignorance. I can make sense of that but I can get to edit grub

grub properties
You are not the owner so you cannot change these permissions

I am logged in as the first user with admin permissions so i don't know what to do

Thanks

Re: No dual boot choice Win7/ Mint 17.2

I'm certainly enjoying the speed over win7 - it was out of frustration at all the hanging on a win7 clean install modern laptop that I came here. It's also because practically all my keyboard habits just work! Thank you. (I should confess that I was actually a product manager for a unix outfit 30 ye...
