Moem's got a x series
True, the X201 is my current weapon of choice. I pretty much live in that thing. It's a good thing I'm not a large person. :D

I'll start looking into buying a new laptop (the laptop is about 6 years old and the battery has already been replaced once).
But... the laptop itself is fine. Why on earth would you replace it?

Re: Update Manager: error messages

If you can't understand the error messages, can you at least tell us what they are so we can point your towards the solution? I bet it's something about software sources being configured multiple times , so you could also pop those words into the forum search and find the solution, which is posted a...

so presumably I can't delete ay flatpack files as they would remove some apps. Flatpak is in /var/lib - it is over 4GB!
If you replace the Flatpak versions of those applications by the .deb versions, you will generally have slightly older versions and save a lot of space.

Don't think any of them can add the red rectangle though.
Thay can't. They're viewers after all. I use Pinta for such edits. But there's tons of other Paint-lookalikes.

Pix does format conversions, but you don't even need that: the standard image viewer does it, too. Just use File => Save As.

And you're looking at the Flatpak version of XnView, not the .deb, and that's why it's so big. Here's a .deb package: https://www.xnview.com/en/xnviewmp/

Re: Mint 19.1 + Ubuntu Eoan = something broke. Experts needed.

@ Moem: True, it's not just semantics, I grant you that, but it's too easy to slip from technical to phylosophical matters, leaving the former unsolved. I did of course base my remark on my impression of the kind of person I was talking to. And it's not like I have anything to offer towards the sol...

Re: Mint 19.1 + Ubuntu Eoan = something broke. Experts needed.

@ Moem: Semantics, really? This may happen to anyone, possibly on a critical system, so it's best to have a working solution now as reference. No, my new friend, I do not consider the difference between a want and a need to be merely semantics. And again: no, adding the repos for a different versio...

That doesn't sound feasible to me. Windows phones do not run Linux. They're probably unsuitable.

A moderator should probably merge your two threads.
This moderator disagrees, the other thread was about a different question.
