Re: What is Linux alternative to "Paint" in Windows?

I've split this off from a very old thread, that should not have been revived.
As for your current options: have you tried Pinta?

Re: Menu question

pbear, now I'm getting more confused, not less. Workspaces are an entirely different thing and there is no Workspace switcher applet installed by default, so I don't think that's it. I really think this sounds like a missing Windows List applet. AWG, can you tell us which version of the latest Mint ...

FriendDavid, you really need to start a thread of your own. You're now hijacking budgiebandolier's topic with entirely unrelated questions, that's not cool. Browse to the forum section where you want to post a topic and then look for the [NEW TOPIC] buttons, there's one above the list of existing to...

And the panel is what the OP calls the menu bar. Just to avoid any possibility for confusion!

Re: How do I move files from windows 10 to mint

Linux can read Windows files. If you install Mint as a dual boot on the same computer, you can browse the Windows parts of the disk from Mint and transfer files like that.

Artgirl, would it be possible for you to stick with the telemetry-free version? Krita doesn't need or use internet access, does it? So I don't think it would be insecure to just keep using the current version.

Re: Linux device task manager

Ok, so I followed your recommendation and installed that lshw program, after some experimenting and finding out that it runs under a terminal That's lshw. I recommended lshw-gtk, which is the gui version (graphical user interface). That runs fine here and I don't run it as root. also what is the li...

Re: MacBook Pro getting seriously hot

And then there's the issue with fans... even if your CPU fan is working, it may be getting up there in years. I have just replaced the fan on my 2012 Thinkpad because it was getting noisy... now with the new fan, it's not only quieter but also 10 - 20 C cooler. So a worn bearing may keep the fan fro...

This is a way to let the terminal show you what is going wrong. You can't get those same details from the software manager.

Nah. Feeling dumb is a waste of energy. Use that energy to dive into your shiny new laptop instead, it'll be better spent. :D

Re: Installed AMD ver on Intel I 5 system ???

Installed AMD version of 18.3 XFCE on my new Dell. There's no such thing. You installed a 64-bits version, which is sometimes called "amd64" or something similar. That has nothing to do with AMD processors; I have it running on the same processor as you are, with no problem at all. Don't ...

Re: Not going back!

Sounds like your mind's made up. Good for you! I took the jump two years ago, and kept Win7 on my laptop since, but I never booted it in all of those two years... so when 18.3 came out, I installed that over Win7. Feels good, doesn't it... freedom. 8) You live in a wonderful country, I have some ver...
