Re: How do I change the colour/gamma/contrast?

Menu => preference => color Check out the options given as color profiles for your laptop/screen. Choose a different one and see if it helps; if not, let us know and we can go from there. We would probably need to know actual brand and model of your laptop. It would be smart to post the results from...

And if you now mark the topic as solved, you'll be golden. (Keep in mind that not everyone sees signatures, they can be switched off. The reason is that your current signature will always show on posts both old and new, so there is no way to know whether it's up to date and appliccable to the...

Re: Cant run sudo apt-get update command

There seems to be a "subtle" difference between a "PPA" and an "Additional repository". A "PPA" is hosted by Launchpad, the software collaboration platform created by Canonical. On the other hand, any software developer can host his/her/its own repository providing .deb packages to be installed by ...

All I use is Google mail. Google is another privacy thief like Facebook.
So they are, but apparently you're happy to give them information, so I'm not sure why you are complaining.

If you use different name variations (initials, nickname, etc) how would they know they are all the same person and not just different people in the household with the same IP address?
They can recognise the device because of browser fingerprinting.

I don’t really have any added PPAs
Are you sure? Because that Wine PPA sure looks like an added PPA to me.

Re: running applications won't show on panel

I bet the panel applet 'Windows list' has been removed from the panel by accident. Can you tell us which version of Mint, and desktop environment, you're using if you need help putting it back?

I'm assuming you mean that you've checked the email options here. https://forums.linuxmint.com/ucp.php?i=ucp_notifications&mode=notification_options Then it should help to subscribe to your own topics. Use the subscribe option in the drop down list under the 'spanner' button at the foot of the page....

Re: Useless shape on Multi-screen desktop

In my 18.3 (you've not told us your version... ) it's in System Settings => Appearance => Backgrounds => Settings tab => Background settings =>'Picture aspect' dropdown => No picture.
Not the most logical route, but there you have it.

Re: Should OS-Uninstaller be run from a live session only?

if I can install 17.3 and past the same home directory in place of the one currently there, it will save me a hell lot of time. But if it has to be from a 17.1 install...well, I just need to know if that home directory is compatible. An answer to that question will solve this thread. I've reused a ...

Re: Welcome Ladies - post here :)

The problem would appear to be it has a 32-bit UEFI-only boot configuration. Normally you would just switch it to legacy boot to bypass that, but that doesn't work on this one. And UEFI normally is 64-bit. Ah... been there done that, on an Acer. The trick was to manually add the 32-bits UEFI file t...

Hi MiraclesHappen, welcome!
I don't have an Ideapad 100s, mine is an Ideapad S10, so that's a bit of a different beastie. It runs Mint XFCE very sweetly. Yours should be able to do that, too.
