Where did you copy this from, and isn't it copyright protected?

I don't know how well it works, but you could install Speech Note from the Software Manager (it's a flatpak) and see if it fulfills your needs.

And that is why I don't have an Android or iOS phone, and don't use Facebook, Google, Amazon, or any Meta products. And my phone doesn't show me any ads.

Edit it to mark it as an executable program... otherwise it won't run. This is done on the Permissions tab of the Properties-window. Just rightclick, as instructed, and choose Properties.

Not true; I have automatic snapshots set up, and when a snapshot is being made, an icon with sprockets does show up in the panel.
