When are extensions ever pre-packaged?
Another good point, that I somehow managed to miss completely!

Doesn't seem like you can multi quote on this forum You can. Seems like you jumped to conclusions, instead of asking. (I think I see a pattern here.) This is how: - Start a new reply - Scroll down to the post you want to reply to - Select the precise part you want to quote - Click the handy quote b...

Re: Well I give up

I don't get it... whenever I have to handle Windows it feels ugly to me. Not specifically 'polished' at all. I guess it's mostly a matter of what you're used to! I do hope the OP will manage to find an OS (and DE... polish is mostly in the DE after all) that hits the spot.

The OP is long gone, the thread has been dead for a year and a half. Locking this one.

Re: Name of the "Login" application in Settings?

It seems to me that the OP wants to install an application on Ubuntu that's normally used on Mint, but I may be wrong, it's unclear to me. OP, please elaborate.
In the settings of Login Window
On which exact OS?

Re: Name of the "Login" application in Settings?

In Settings of what?

On my Mint Cinnamon 18.3 it's called Login Window in the settings. But it seems you want the package name? I believe that's 'Login'.

Re: HELP-LMDE 3 New Installation Optimum Patirionng Setup?

Sir you should make 3 separate new posts for each of your 3 questions. Here in the comments on another person's post is unlikely to be read and answered. As a moderator I agree. In fact, It was a bad idea to hijack the post in the first, place and it should definitely not be continuted. We generall...

Hi all, I have the same exact issue as the OP right after installing v19. Never set a root passwd but it asks for it for all installations.
No, it really doesn't. It prompts you to set up a user password. You might want to read Mute Ant's post above again.

Linux Mint is indeed based on Ubuntu Linux.
And the big exclamation mark just means 'Your attention, please'. Not 'Abandon all hope, all ye who enter here'.

Re: LM19 automatic updates for public access

Mod note:
This is a tech support forum. Can we stop talking about people in this thread, and start/keep talking about automatic updates? And if there is nothing more to say about that, it's also okay to go and do something else.

the distinction between updates and upgrades isn't that clear cut. The terms are often used interchangeably.
Fair enough, but I've never seen any Mint tool referring to going from 18.x to 18.x+1 or from 18.x to 19 as an update. Only ever 'upgrade'.

Re: LM19 automatic updates for public access

Can I disable Linux Mint from updating to Linux Mint 20 or a new build? No. But there is no need. Mint does not upgrade by itself. Note that a jump to a newer version is an upgrade, not an update. Upgrades are never automatic. As for the other questions, I concur that simply looking at the settings...

Good point, and yes, a new topic would be best. I mostly split this off because it had no business being in the old thread.

I stated in a post that developers really don't give a sh** about forum posts...so your opinion is pointless.
If that's true, isn't this whole thread even more pointless?
