Re: Introducing Folks to Linux.

"Mint is better suited for folks new to Linux than other distros are " or "Mint is better suited for folks new to Linux than it is for more experienced users ". There's quite a difference and yet both of those might be expressed as "Mint might be better suited for folks new...

Re: Introducing Folks to Linux.

I'm thinking that Mint might be better suited for folks new to Linux and/or computers(I know quite a few). I think that is an unfair assessment of Mint. Under the hood, Mint is just as complex as any other distro. That depends on whether the statement means "Mint is better suited for folks new...

Re: Pale Moon and Quantum technology

I've split this off so we can continue without cluttering up the original topic. I know that the new Firefox is called 'Quantum' but I don't know what 'Quantum technology' means... let me try and look that up. ... no, I can't find anything. Which specific technology in the new Firefox do you mean? T...

There were duplicates / double entries in your sources list, apparently. If it's solved now, please mark the topic as SOLVED.

Re: need help with upgrade from 17.3 to 18.3 properly?

I would copy the entire /home partition over from the old disk to the new disk. Or maybe you can keep it on the old disk but still mount it as /home when booting from the new disk. But I have no experience doing that.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'not sure if I need LiveCD boot'. What is that?

Split this off into its own thread. A new question deserves a new thread, and the poster of the original thread deserves not to have their thread hijacked.

Re: Multiple OS's and the boot screen?

Ideally, they all show up as a single list in GRUB: Linux-based OSes and others. It's a good idea to install a Linux-based OS last because the last installed OS controls GRUB.

When you're asking a question, people will pretty much always need to know more than that to answer. I recommend always mentioning your distro version, desktop environment and architecture. For example, I'm using Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 64-bits.

Willster, it seems you're trying to ask a question of your own in someone elses topic, and asking it in the subject not the body of the message. Both of these are not the best ideas. Please start a new topic for your question.
