Re: Performance halved in nearly everything compared to windows 10
Hello and welcome! It's great that you posted your system information; next time, you can do even better and post it as text, inside code tags. Like this: System: Kernel: 6.5.0-28-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: N/A Desktop: Cinnamon 6.0.4 tk: GTK 3.24.33 wm: muffin vt: 7 dm: LightDM 1.30.0 Distro...

Re: Why so complicated
Instead of struggling for a long time, and then posting an angry rant, may I suggest just asking questions the next time, and doing it before you get yourself all worked up? If it seems too complicated, maybe you're making it harder than it needs to be, and someone can make your day better by pointi...

Re: How to disable Timshift in Cinnamon21.3 ?
I do not read it and skip it as soon as possible since I do not understand anything it talks about there. How would you know that you don't understand it, if you don't read it? And do you really expect the system to be easy to set up if you won't read the information it's trying to give you? If you...

Re: Linux Mint is destroying my new USB sticks!
Sometimes the Disks application will see drives that GParted will not. it is also capable of reformatting drives. Maybe this helps!

Re: Random system freeze
Hello, can you please post your system information? This can be found in the system reports application, on the tab system information . You can copy it from there and paste it into your next post. This information is needed for pretty much any question about your system, so it's a good habit to pos...

Re: LTS Upgrading: from Virginia 21.3 to Wilma 22
In fact I recall there being people who took the approach to do the upgrade program with the fallback being they would do a fresh install. That was my approach, and it went swimmingly. I had the installation as a plan B but never needed it. Why not simply give it a try? You can always do a normal i...

Having a grey beard does not a greybeard make; being a greybeard is a state of mind.

Re: Android and Linux
Oh? Interesting, so basically we can install linux on android phone if we're able to unlock the bootloader? No, that's too big a jump. It's not that simple. We can install Ubuntu Touch on an Android phone if we can lock the bootloader and if there is a version of Ubuntu Touch for that phone. Here i...

Not a bug. It seems that Reddit has some code in place that influences how cut&paste works.

Yes, just like from the standard version of 21.3. After all, there is not so much difference... it's just a newer kernel.

Re: question about reinstalling Mint without windows
No, I would not use Timeshift for that; in fact I would not reinstall at all. I would boot from a live Mint USB stick, start GParted from there, use that to remove any and all Windows partitions... and use the new space by enlarging the existing Linux partitions. Do make a backup of your important d...

It is, in most cases. But then most beginners want to install on their harddrive. That is the default situation and so that is the easiest way.
