We don't know that it's Cinnamon, so we don't know whether there is Nemo.

Re: Moving all Data from Linux 17 Mint to Windows via USB.

Click-by-click is not going to be easy as we can't see the screen. We don't know which desktop environment is installed, and whether there are specific customizations. But you should expect to find a main menu somewhere in the bar that is across the screen, usually at the bottom. The menu button is ...

Re: Installing an upgrade

I have many files and applications under LM19.3 and a clean install would mean loosing these. You can and should backup your files (this can be as simple as copying them to an external storage medium) but you can't keep your applications. The same applications would most likely not run on a newer v...

gbone wrote: Wed Mar 27, 2024 8:21 am How do you find multiple kernels?
An easy way is to open the Update Manager, then the View Menu, then Linux Kernels. This lists all the kernels that are available to you and shows which ones of those are installed. You can also remove / install kernels from there.

Re: The Wi-Fi does not work

Hello, can you please post your system information? This can be found in the system reports application, on the tab system information . You can copy it from there and paste it into your next post. This information is needed for pretty much any question about your system, so it's a good habit to pos...

Re: Problems Getting Installed Linux to Boot / Run on HP-ProBook-455

From looking here: https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-ProBook-455-G2-Notebook-Review.141740.0.html ... I get the impression that it has two memory slots but comes with only one filled. Adding RAM is usually as easy as shutting the laptop down, opening a hatch on the bottom, and popping it in. Look up ...

Make sure that you are cleaning up in the partition that actually needs cleaning. If there is space in one partition, another can still get overly full.

Makes sense, because that's not what it's meant for.
Just so you know: you can use them both at the same time, they don't conflict.

Re: Problems Getting Installed Linux to Boot / Run on HP-ProBook-455

The best possible speed tweaks for that laptop, if possible, would probably be:
- adding more RAM. 4GB is pretty painful these days
- switching out the HDD for an SSD.

Just FYI, the Edge version is aimed at very new hardware.

That's great, but it doesn't help the OP. Please note that this is not a chat topic. Cheers!

Re: Why is dual-boot not recommended by many?

The reason is that Windows updates have a tendency to mess things up in such a way that they may make it impossible to boot into Mint.

Re: Not Permitted To Update

that seams to mean that I'm not allowed to update packages any more. You are allowed. But there is nowhere to download them from, and that is a very different thing. No one is making updates for your OS anymore, and the repositories have been closed down. So there simply aren't any updates available.

Ubuntu Touch, which is made for touchscreen devices like tablets. It is, but there needs to be a specific version made for every model of tablet or phone, so the chance that any random tablet is supported is small and I don't think this one is one of the few. Sorry but I don't think Ubuntu Touch is...
