Re: Mounted Network folders are filling up local diskspace?

Thank you so very much, WharfRat. Now a lot of things are a lot more transparent to me :) To make sure that I understood it right: And if files are being copied into such a folder, what happens when the connection is back up? Then the files on that filesystem will be accessed. Does that mean, that i...

Re: Mounted Network folders are filling up local diskspace?

Great thank you so much! Is this a common behaviour in Linux that mountpoints that are not connected are being used as local folders instead while the NAS folders are offline? And if files are being copied into such a folder, what happens when the connection is back up? I mean, some of the files mig...

Re: Mounted Network folders are filling up local diskspace?

Thank you WharfRat for this information! That was indeed the case, because I had no connection for a few days and the data was stored in these folders nevertheless, but like you said, obviously as normal folders. Could you or someone else please explain to me in short, how I could prevent mountpoint...

[Solved] Mounted Network folders are filling up local diskspace?

Hi everyone, I recently experienced a strange behaviour with my mounted network folders and I hope someone here can explain me what is happening and why. I successfully set up fstab to automatically mount 4 folders that are located on my WD MycloudMirror NAS. So far so good. Aside from a few permiss...

Re: HDMI + Sound + Mint 18

Same problem for me as well.
Seems to switch output from HDMI to internal speaker as soon as there is a longer break, once even after starting and closing virtualbox.
17.3 did remember last used output, so must be something within 18.
Please Fix :)

NVIDIA Optimus tray icon weird behaviour

hi everyone :D I notice a weird behaviour of my nvidia optimus graphics units on my dell inspiron 17R SE. It's an Nvidia GT650M and the Intel HD Graphics included in the i7-3610QM CPU. I am running Mint 17.3 cinnamon. Everything seems to be working fine. I can also switch back and forth between the ...

Re: Should I wait for Linux Mint 17.3 to stop being in beta?

ok thanks. The reason I am asking is this post from clem in the news section of the 17.3 cinnamon beta release, post #33 ...The second option is much easier, go back to 17.2 and upgrade to 17.3. When 17.3 is stable, you’ll see an option to upgrade to it via the Update Manager. That will upgrade the ...

Will there be any advantage from an installation of the final 17.3 release over the upgrade from 17.2 to 17.3?

Re: Device Driver Manager not visible - 17.2 Cinnamon

thank you so much cosmo, that did it. And I noticed that I could not access "user & groups" either before I did what you told me to do. I have no idea how I removed my account from all the groups. Not by purpose, because I did not know all these commands before... the only thing I remember I did in ...

Re: Device Driver Manager not visible - 17.2 Cinnamon

@Cosmo both commands do not work. I get the prompt for the password, that disappears after typing it in, and that's it. no Driver Manager popping up. Initially I wanted to launch it from the settings panel, but from there, same behaviour. Password window disappearing after typing password in, and no...

Re: Device Driver Manager not visible - 17.2 Cinnamon

@Flemur I tried it without sudo now too, that box is appearing here too. I type in the password, the box disappears, and that's it. No driver-manager. And also no error message. The password box just disappears, and the terminal has a new prompt again. Really confusing for me. Update: I played aroun...

Re: Device Driver Manager not visible - 17.2 Cinnamon

oh thanks for this info! I tried, and it says, that I am not allowed to start »/usr/bin/driver-manager« as root on this machine :o Something must have changed then with the permissions since the initial installation of the machine, because when switching to the NVidia driver I was allowed to just do...

[solved] Device Driver Manager not visible - 17.2 Cinnamon

Hi, I am pretty new to Linux Mint and I have a question about the device driver manager. I am using Mint 17.2 Cinnamon. When I try to start it it prompts for the admin password, but then nothing happens, it does not show anything. I can click again, password is requested once more, and still nothing...
