Re: No Wi-Fi on Cinnamon
Thank you for your ideas but I don't understand. What does "Fast Startup in Windows" have to do with Linux/Mint networking/wi-fi ?sleeper12 wrote:You may need to disable Fast Startup in Windows & secure boot in Bios.
Secure Boot is already turned off.
Still a mystery !!

Not sure whether to post this in "Cinnamon" or "Networking"... please move topic if it's in the wrong place --- Tnx I'm running Windows/Mint(Cinnamon-20) as a dual-boot system. The machine is an older Dell i7 Laptop/Notebook which I use (at home) with a Dell dock & monitor. T...

I have the exact same question for both XFCE and Cinnamon - but I hope I don't have to post it twice (once in each forum). I run 6+ PC's almost all the time. I use a KVM-switch (sometimes several chained together) for ease of managing multiple machines. A trick I learned long ago in the Windows Univ...

Re: Help migrating KDE to KDE
MANY, MANY THANKS for all the comments and good info !! I think my next project will be to try simply running some of the KDE apps I like in the XFCE playground. (I have tried/tested Cinnamon, Mate, and XFCE multiple times but struggled with all of them). I'm going to leave this topic UN-closed for ...

[Resolved] Comply vs Complain
I have been reading comments to one of my tech questions and one of the experts has referred to "Qt". I decided to research this and try to understand what he is/was referring to. One of my searches pointed me to this website: https://www.educba.com/linux-qt/ In the SECOND paragraph (How D...

[Closed] Help migrating KDE to KDE
I have been running an older version of Mint/KDE for many years but have recently installed a new Mint(XFCE) system, then added KDE on top, then removed XFCE (per documentation). This essentially gives me an "updated/current" Mint/KDE. Now my issue is finding as many as I can of the progra...

Re: Is a TrueCrypt volume hiding in my UNallocated space ?
@t42 - Thank you for your information. I visited your "TrueCrypt" link (above) and here's what I think I understand... Regardless of whether there is a TrueCrypt volume in the unallocated space OR NOT, one must have the password in order to mount the volume. If one has the password then it...

[Resolved] Is a TrueCrypt volume hiding in my UNallocated space ?
I'm not sure whether to post this question in this forum or a "hardware" forum so if a mod wants to move this topic that's find with me. I have some "unallocated" space on an old disk drive, but I'm suspicious that it might contain an old "TrueCrypt" volume. I've tried ...

The exact collection I was looking for is in ...linuxmint-rafaela - which I found from your first link (above). If I missed it the first time I apologize. In any case I'm really getting back to where I'd like to be: Mint/KDE with some very nice and familiar backgrounds.
MANY THANKS !!!

Re: Where were login-screen pics on older Mint/KDE system ?
@smurphos - Thank you for your reply and suggestion. I visited your link and checked quite a few of the files/folders but it seems like all that I saw was "after the logon" themes/backgrounds. What I am looking for is the gallery of pictures that automatically flip past on the logon screen...

[Resolved] Where were login-screen pics on older Mint/KDE system ?
Many THANKS to Xenopeek for excellent instructions for implementing KDE on current Mint distro. I have my new Mint/KDE system installed and working. I would like to find and re-use (if possible) a couple of the pictures that made up the gallery/choices for the old KDE login screen. I see these pict...

Re: Qgrubeditor questions
Thank you for those comments !! I have to say I'm curious about why there is so much negativity (I'm still basically a newbie with Linux and I don't know these things). I missed the years-and-years of Linux learning (especially Command-line) so I'd like to find a good way ( using a GUI ) to edit Gr...

Re: Scrolling in Firefox
Hold down Shift and then click the blank spot in the vertical scrolling area. I'm pretty sure there is a way to reverse these actions - so you hold down Shift to do massive scrolling immediately, but I could not find that setting. Bingo !! This produced the exact behavior (or behaviour) I was looki...

I had already verified that all my other settings selected US English - but that pick you documented specified UK English.
THANKS !!
