I've broken Qt apps scaling on Mint Cinnamon 18.1
Hi all, I noticed lately that some Qt apps (noticeably VLC, Calibre and Krita 3.1) won't scale properly like the rest of the desktop. I suspect this might be due to the fact that I installed the Kubuntu Backports PPA, but removing it and downgrading the packages from it didn't fix the breakage. I kn...

Re: Mint on new Asus Zenbook UX305 - problems - NEW
3) My battery life is around 8-10 hours medium to light use, but I have the screen way dimmer than you at 20%. I can get around 9 hours of light use (surfing the web minus streaming videos, word processing, listening to music). I do set the brightness pretty low (it's now on 20%) but this laptop is...

Re: Mint on new Asus Zenbook UX305 - problems - NEW
I've also written a blog post about installing Mint Xfce on it, just because before buying it I couldn't find anything about that. Though I didn't go into real detail about my setup. perhaps I should.

Re: Mint on new Asus Zenbook UX305 - problems - NEW
I've got the Asus UX305FA (with the less powerful Core m-5y10c chip). I'm running Mint Xfce 17.3 on it and all this Hdpi discussion makes me really happy for my choice, because setting the dpi to 139 is one click in the Xfce appearance settings (see attached picture). Well, I just love Xfce to bits ...

Re: Missing item in Window list (on panel)
As I said, purging and reinstalling libreoffice solved the libreoffice problem, which may mean it has something to do with the upgrade to 17.3 changing something with the way libreoffice works with gtk. I noticed that before the purge and reinstall I had the ugly libreoffice file menus when saving/l...

Re: Missing item in Window list (on panel)
I've first noticed it with libreoffice, but only when opening files from nemo (when I just started libreoffice it would show). This I solved by purging libreoffice and reinstalling. Other than that I have this problem with various programs who have in common using unconventional graphics. It happens...

Re: Missing item in Window list (on panel)
No problem. Still, I hope this gets sorted out, because the thumbnail feature is pretty cool.

It seems to me there's a bug in the new thumbnail feature of the window list applet.

Re: Missing item in Window list (on panel)
Ok, I just found out a way to solve this. If you go Settings > Applets > Window list > Configure and disable "Show window thumbnail on hover" then the apps that don't appear on the Window list reappear.
So it seems to be a bug with the new thumbnail feature in the window list...

Re: Missing item in Window list (on panel)
I can add that if I open Looking Glass (right click on the panel, choose Troubleshoot and then Looking Glass) and restart the Window List extension, the missing apps reappear.

Running linux mint on hp stream 11 r010nr
Hi everybody. I'm thinking about buying a hp stream 11 r010nr, (It's the new version of the stream 11 that was released last month) purging it of windows and installing mint. I was wondering if anybody has installed mint on it and can tip me about its compatibility... I've found references to linux ...

Re: vboxclient the virtualbox kernel service is not running
I'm with the party who see this as a bad bug. Linux Mint is great partly because it's geared toward "average users" (like myself!). An average user is not supposed to know the mysterious message that suddenly appeared is harmless, and this is something that needs to be fixed. I understand ...
