Dual boot Mint 17.2/Windows 10

Hi all, I've managed to use GParted to partition the 1 TB HDD on my Toshiba Satellite laptop into two roughly equal parts and formatted the non Linux partition as NTFS. I have just acquired a genuine Win 10 64 bit Home edition OEM Disk, but I'm hesitant/bit unconfident to try and install it. Current...

Re: Deleting partial files

OK, so, I tried to open the files as Root, then tried again to delete them after inputting my password, still no good. I managed to "Move to Trash", this resulted in the creation of a .Trash-1000 folder containing the following: Expunged (with 2 sub folders); and Files (empty) There is 3.3...

Deleting partial files

Hello all, I've run into a bit of a problem, I was backing up and copying files from my laptop (LinuxMint 17.2) to an external HDD, when I accidently bumped the USB cable, causing an error. I replaced the cable and continued, only to find that some video files had only partly transferred. After copy...

Re: Installing Win 7 as a secondary OS on LM17.2

I've heard about virtualbox, and it seems like a good idea, I just don't know how to go about creating/using one.

Installing Win 7 as a secondary OS on LM17.2

Hi all, I am really, really happy with LM 17.2 which managed to wipe my laptop of the Win 7 OS, not a bad thing however, now I want to put in a small partition to load Win 7 and play Halo 2. I have downloaded and installed Gparted, but I'm still pretty new at this, so can someone tell me in easy to ...

Re: VPN resolved

Hey guys, thanks to all those who provided info and pointers, I've tried for the last 2 days to get IPVanish installed, but I have no idea why it's not working. I need to do a complete reinstall of LM and I'll go from there. Its probably something I'm doing wrong, but I'm out of patience and energy....

Re: VPN

OK, I was looking at IPVanish as I used them for my previous Win machine. They were rather expensive though, around $30 a month and seemed to rely on servers around the Baltic region.

I am going to have a look at NordVPN and see if they support LM.

Re: partitioning linux HDD Solved

I'm going to wait for Xbox to support mouse/keyboard. In the meantime I might buy the CronusMax as their site says it supports Halo MCC

Thanks to everyone for your patience and help

Re: partitioning linux HDD

So, it like I may not need to any of this, Microsoft have apparently said that during 2016 they will be making Xbox One keyboard and mouse capable. I think I'll just wait for that to happen and buy an Xbox. Although I have found a thing called CronusMax that seems to offer this capability, anyone fa...

OK, I think I understand, but I'm going to go with Win 7 instead.

Is there a difference in how I install that?

Re: partitioning linux HDD

Sorry, that didn't work. I can tell you that on the left of the Gparted box field is a very narrow green box, then a long blue/grey box with a verysmall red box at the right end. Below, in the information labelled area its says the green is /dev/sda1 FAT32, /boot/EFI, Size 512 Mb the next down says ...
