Re: Incorrect time on desktop after booting

Are you dual-booting with Windows? No, no windows, don't need it. Thanks. I asked due to the differences between Linux and Windows on use of local vs. UTC time. https://www.howtogeek.com/323390/how-to-fix-windows-and-linux-showing-different-times-when-dual-booting/ Any chance you manually adjusted ...

Re: Logitech keyboard and mouse problem Cinnamon 19

If the USB Receiver is plugged into a rear USB port, try moving it to a front port. If that helps or fixes the problem, I'd also check/replace the mouse and keyboard batteries.

Re: in-build mic doesn`t work when connect heaphones to jack

The Lenovo Y50-70 has a Sound/Mic Combo Jack, according to its specifications. I've seen this problem before, i.e. when you plug in the headphones the laptop switches both sound and mic functions to the Jack port. That's a hardware function of the laptop and probably has no software/OS solution. If ...

"BIOS 0805 July 2017"

I would highly recommend you update BIOS to current for your motherboard.

Re: SSD breaks Wifi

The dmesg log you attached shows the 4.8.0-53-generic kernel. Since that Kernel is no longer supported, I would try the latest 4.4 Kernel or the 4.15 Kernel for Mint 18.x.

Check this bug report.

Re: problem with printer HP deskjet 2600

I'm a little ahead of you. I've been through the release notes and confirm what was stated on that thread about 2620 support. Here's the download link and you can also look at the release notes to confirm where/when 2620 support started. If you download, select Linux Mint from the drop-down list and...

Re: problem with printer HP deskjet 2600

Is that actually an HP Deskjet 2620? Not a 2600?

This thread in French (I translated to English) might help. It suggests that 2620 scanner is only supported by later HPLIP version. I'm guessing you have 3.16.3.

Sorry it didn't work. And the error message(s) is/were???? FAIL TO SCAN.NO SCAN AVAILABLE,PLEASE CONNECT A SCANNER. Is the message from Simple Scan or XSane? If it's from Simple Scan, check the Simple Scan menu - Document - Preferences - Scan Source. Is the scanner listed? If it's XSane, that shoul...

From Update Manger, select "View" (at top) and then select "Linux Kernels" from the drop-down menu.

Re: Logitech webcam not working properly

Please run the following commands from Terminal and post back the results. dmesg | grep -i uvc lsmod | grep -i uvc lsmod | grep -i gspca FYI....that cam appears to use the gspca driver, which should be in the Kernel. It's on this list. https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/v4.17/media/v4l-drivers/gspca-ca...

On the possibility of a recent update as cause, try booting from Live CD/Flash and see if the problem persists.

Re: High fan speed read at low temperatures

If the fan is operating normal and you're not getting any temp problems, probably not a real problem. Again, low fan RPM can produce odd readings. I have a case fan on a system I'm refurbishing, which can max around 2500 RPM. I'm tuning it from BIOS using PWM. When it drops below about 800 RPM, it w...

Re: Routers.

It's possible to use the 2nd Router, but it depends on whether you want to maintain a single subnet and bridge or a 2nd subnet and route. In either case, the 2nd Router would need proper configuration, which might be dependent on that Router's flexibility in settings. Note, if you decide to Route wi...

Re: High fan speed read at low temperatures

Does the system BIOS show any PC Health type readings to cross-check the fan RPM? Could be a faulty tach sensor. Some sensors don't work or have odd readings at too low RPM.

Re: Is this USB 3 device supported by Mint 18.3 / Mint 19

My quick check of the card has it using an NEC USB 3.0 chip. I've had pretty good luck with NEC/Renesas chips. In doing some further checking, I don't see the card sold any longer on Amazon or Newegg. It may no longer be manufactured by Asus. Some of the comments on Newegg show the card working with...

Re: Disc reader doesn't work

If BIOS doesn't show the drive, it probably is a hardware failure.

If the drive doesn't detect/spin-up with disc inserted, that's another bad indication of failure.
