Re: 4 monitors with 2 Nvidia Geforce 710 video cards

I'm noticing that your cards are showing with Device ID, and not name. I wondering if that's driver or kernel or both as a problem. I'm noticing that you are using a Mainline 4.14.11 kernel. I assume you're using ukuu to update. I'm wondering about some recent problems with nVidia cards and the rece...

Re: I cannot display Linux Mint Properly on my HD TV

You need to set the HD TV display (assuming it is an HD TV) to match the input signal from the laptop. The laptop is producing a 720p signal. The TV setting should have a method to change picture resolution or sizing ratio, i.e. either something like 720p or aspect ratio. HD is 16:9 ratio, e.g. 1280...

Re: Nvidia GPU Help? 18.3 KDE not recognizing the second GPU

I took a glance at your User Manual as I was curious about Slot 1 and 3 combination. I was thinking that should be 1 and 4, or PCIe E1 and E4 by definition.

Look at pages 29 and 30. Are you using the PCIe slots as recommended?

Re: [SOLVED] How do I control case fan speeds?

Nouveau is the nouveau Open Source driver, which automatically installs for nVidea GPU. The Proprietary Driver installs from Driver Manager, as I assume you've discovered. Don't know which GPU you have, but the default-recommended is a good place to start. You're welcome.

Re: Epson printers, 'Print test page' only print blank pages

With Epson printers, you normally download the drivers and utilities from Epson. If you go to this link, and enter your printer name, e.g. xp-205, and select Linux for Operating System from the drop-down list, it should take you to a page for downloads. If that is an All-In-One, you should see 3-4 d...

I'm glad Ubuntu 17.10 worked. That might suggest you did need a newer kernel, per prior discussion.

Please run the following command from Terminal and post back the results. inxi -Fxz Have you checked on BIOS upgrade for the board? Seems to be a lot of posts on various forums about getting more than one 1070 GPU working on various boards in the MSI Z170A series, but don't know which board you have...

Re: How do I control case fan speeds?

With modern motherboards, I generally recommend letting BIOS adjust fan speeds using temp sensors to monitor. How do you have the Chassis Q-Fan Control options set in BIOS? Were you using a fan control utility in Windows 7? I'm guessing you aren't using anything to check sensors. lm-sensors is norma...

Re: Internal Mic not working with headphones 18.3

The way I'm reading/interpreting the manual, it's a specific hardware function to detect and switch speaker and mic to the combo port, when port use is detected. That appears to fit what is happening from your description, i.e. you plug in headphones (only) and they work, but onboard mic is disabled...

Re: mellanox driver install fails

In looking at the Perl code that produced the error, it simply is checking distro name, and not the version or release level. I believe the distro name for Mint is linuxmint. There is a section of code in the file I linked that checks for distro. It appears to use the lsb-release file. If you run th...

Are you using EasyBCD to operate using the Windows Boot Menu, i.e. you're not using/seeing the Grub Boot Menu? The example of dual-boot with Win-Linux at EasyBCD suggests my asking that question to understand how you're operating. https://neosmart.net/wiki/easybcd/ If that's what you are doing, then...

OK, I would recommend upgrade to a Kernel series that operates around Mint 18.x. Try updating to Kernel 4.4.0-109.

I upgraded from the previous LTS a few months ago to 18.2 Sonya 32 bit. Has there been a package to cause this performance change in the updates? I'm using nvidia 304 driver, kernel is 3.13. Did you upgrade the system from Mint 17.3 using the mintupgrade tool (not fresh install of 18.2), where kern...

Re: Mint 18.3 MATE 64-bit Freeze

I agree with Austin. It really does read as a memory problem. However, you might need to set legacy boot in BIOS. I'm fairly certain that is a UEFI machine and won't show/boot Memtest86+ from Grub.

Memtest86 (no +) can boot either mode.....and why I pointed to that.
