Re: Epson XP-430 Scanner suddendly started scanning too light
There is a "Brightness" adjustment that you could try from either XSane or the Epson Image Scan package. I believe "0" is the default (it is for my Epson).

Re: printer HP p1102w
Let's see if this works. Add the HPLIP-GUI utility from Software Manager (which provides HPLIP Toobox in Menu - Preference). If you got the printer to add using Printers, see if it appears in the HPLIP Toolbox (give a few seconds). If it does, there should be an "Install Requred Plugin" un...

Re: Samsung M2070 AiO printer/Scanner trouble
ClixTrix, you are THE SAVER!!! Applying that firewall rule make my scanner FINALLY work again in LM 19.1. Thanx a lot. VICTORY!! I also just found out that TorGuard VPN service is blocking my scanner also. Any idea how to make that VPN let my scanner work again. Thanx for any help in advance. I wou...

Re: printer HP p1102w
Hi deepakdeshp I can install the printer with the "Printers" application, but it still does not respond. "Print Test Page" results in ""Filter failed". "Print Self-test Page" does not provide any output The P1102W requires install of the driver plugin.

There is an interesting article on the subject of flashing a Yoga without using Windows. I haven't done this, but it does appear your model is on the list.

Re: Samsung M2070 AiO printer/Scanner trouble
I see a UFW rule (allow port 22161) for the printer over at Ubuntu, and it's for 18.04 (base for Mint 19). Looks like author is quoting Samsung as source for this problem and fix.

Re: Not sure what to do with suspect disk
Was the Microsoft reserved partition moved after creation. I ask because of it's odd alignment and some math. Normally, partitions operate on 4K sector boundaries to optimize performance, especially on new advanced physical 4K (logical 512) sector drives. Sector 34 is the the 1st available sector fo...

Re: System SSD No Longer Detected
Have you tried GParted? If you don't have any data on the drive, or are ready to send it to Samsung regardless, I would try using GParted to delete and recreate the Partition Table. If that works, create a new partition and format it for a test.

Re: System SSD No Longer Detected
I meant to also ask this: In many years of running Ubuntu-based systems on various machines, I have never encountered a corrupted system disk. All those were running on hard drives. Now, with my first SSD, I have a problem in the first month, bringing the system to a complete halt. Is there somethi...

Re: HP Laser Jet Pro M12W in Mint 19.1
As Brian pointed-out, the M12W isn't supported by HPLIP, and probably won't be supported. However, that printer is in the Foomatic group, i.e. it uses the foo2zjs driver, like the P1102W. http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/ The foo2zjs driver currently bundled with Mint 19/19.1 is 20170320dfsg0-4. The changel...

Re: HP LaserJet P1109 installation
Was there a specific reason for installing the newest edition of HPLIP? The P1109 works fine on the bundled version of HPLIP 3.17.10. I've got two P1102W and a (just acquired) P1109W in house, and they all work fine with Mint 19.1 and the bundled version. Here's some ideas on the error..... Since th...

Re: HP MFP stops in the middle of scan
From checking specs on the MFP M177fw, you should have Ethernet and USB, as well as wifi capability. The drop-out sounds suspiciously like a wifi disconnect problem, as it appears the scanner leaves the network. Can you determine if the printer/scanner has disconnected from the router? Andy's sugges...

Re: HP MFP stops in the middle of scan
Do you have the HP Driver plugin installed? Your model is listed as requiring the plugin. Normally, the plugin is for printing. However, I've read a few cases where install of the plugin cleared-up a scan problem.

Re: System SSD No Longer Detected
Well, the error code suggests possible causes including Corrupt BIOS. This link suggests a reset procedure. Make sure you pull power plug when removing/swapping CMOS battery.

Re: System SSD No Longer Detected
Enter BIOS Setup on the Optiplex and see if it detects the SSD. Since you swapped batteries, I'd do a Setup SAVE-EXIT of BIOS as a starting point.

I'm assuming the Kingston drive was added. If you remove the Kingston drive from the system, does that restore use of the CD/DVD drive?

There is a bug report with that same scanner error code for a different HP mfp at Canonical for HPLIP.

Re: How to get HP LaserJet Pro scanner to work?
Generally, the plug-in is for the printer only. This list at HP provides info on which printers (or AIO) require the plugin and the M29a/w don't appear to require it.

It's situations like this where Timeshift comes in handy. If you're running Timeshift, do you have any Snapshots before the problem that you can restore?

Re: "Broken Cache" After Failed EPSON Printer Installation
Let's talk about that package install instruction for lsb. apt-get install lsb -f That's not the correct syntax, i.e. the -f option goes before the install. In that position it operates as a package name and the "-" appended indicates uninstall. Honestly, not sure what that did, but you ap...
