Re: Waterfox keeps crashing on 19.1

I had installed Google Translate for Firefox not too long ago. It started spiking my RAM and causing the Cinnamon desktop to freeze, except for the mouse.

You never know what some of these add ons will do.

Re: How to open file in separate xed and not in tab

You are right Karl, it's gedit with Mint 17. This is for Cinnamon for both 17 and 19. A new tab opens when choosing File --> New (or Open) in the gedit window. Which is great. A new gedit window opens when double-clicking, or right-clicking to open a file when using Nemo. I believe the goal is to ha...

Re: PowerDown does not complete to BIOS shutdown

If this problem just started recently, perhaps it has something to do with the 4.15.0-46 kernel.

There's a 4.15.0-47 kernel available. I noticed the 46 kernel wasn't the latest available for very long, so perhaps it had some issues addressed with 47.

Go back to 45 if 47 doesn't correct it?

Re: How to open file in separate xed and not in tab

Thanks Flemur.

I didn't want to apply that if it meant opening a new Xed window, instead of a new tab, while using the New / Open function inside an already established Xed window.

Re: How to open file in separate xed and not in tab

Hello, bradrar. xed --new-window will open a new xed application window instead of a new tab in an already started xed instance. Example: xed --new-window ~/.bashrc xed --new-window ~/.bash_history will launch two instances of xed. One will display ~/.bashrc. One will display ~/.bash_history. In ca...

Re: fileSystem is full

Yes, if your root partition is under 40 GB then it's best to save Timeshift snapshots to a larger partition. You could also save the snapshots to external USB flash drive, or an external hard disk drive.

Another option is to not save so many snapshots. For most people, once a week is fine.

If yes, Opera can be installed the next way, but it can break your system.

Try out Slimjet, Midori and Pale Moon browsers. They normally use less resources.

Re: Mint 18.3 updates

It's not a security problem. Probably need to find better update mirrors.

In the Update Manager, click on Edit and then Software sources.

Check your Main and Base for the fastest mirrors available.

It seemed like a better solution than downloading a bunch of unnecessary software. Besides, I've seen some people in the forum complain about Unetbootin 8)

If you're using the Cinnamon desktop, you can right-click the iso for Lubuntu and choose Make bootable USB stick
