Re: [SOLVED] How big is the Software Manager
<moderator on> The nerdy stuff, bad advice and discussions about Linux mint-meta-packages have been split off and relocated to Don't uninstall mintinstall -or- What's the use of mint-meta packages </moderator off> Thanks. I looked up Linux Mint 19 Images (Google) and guess whos photo I see there. Y...

Re: HP LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw
I still use the same monochrome HP Laserjet 4000n that I have had for 20 years and it is still going strong. (It's so old I had to have a parallel port fitted to the computer for connection.) Allied with a colour inkjet printer/scanner they cover all my needs, but it would have been nice to combine...

Re: HP LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw
Used Laser printers cost little and generic toner cartridges are inexpensive. That is what I did and am quite pleased with it. Of course the color Laser printers are not going to be found but I only print text in Black so color is unnecessary. EDIT: I got an HP Laser Jet Pro M26nw open box for just ...

Re: [SOLVED] How big is the Software Manager
Yea, your right, perhaps not installed Software but stuff I do not use like Firefox updates (I use Chrome), office apps which I do not use, etc. etc.. Actually most of the updates I see are for "stuff" I do not use. It is no big deal but a minor annoyance only. I just load them all as igno...

Re: [SOLVED] How big is the Software Manager
I missed when you made that suggestion to be honest... I thought you wanted the available applications themselves moved off the system, which they already are. The easiest way not to see the software manager's suggested application is never to use it. I said that, in fact I have removed it f...

Re: [SOLVED] How big is the Software Manager
It is just that when I bring up the Software Manager it reminds me of when I first saw Windows 10 with all those, in your face, irrelevant (to me) apps which fortunately could be removed easily. With Synaptic I never have to see it at least. I sure hope no one is insulted by my suggestion to remove ...
Re: Hurrah
Monday: 8 boys are out and four remain along with the coach. It seems that there is only enough air tanks for four to be rescued in a 24 hour period. The divers are required to leave the area to refill. The world waits for the news of them all free and healthy. One fatality has already occurred as o...

Re: [SOLVED] How big is the Software Manager
The Software Manager takes longer than any other app to load so obviously there is more to it than "nothing".

Re: Can't find Installed Applications on Software Manager
Welcome to the forum. Here is a screenshot of the Software Manager with results of the search on my system (19). I have no idea why yours does not show the list but someone will surely jump in here to help. In the mean time, you should post your stats by entering the following in the terminal: inxi ...

Re: MBM2 Mint Box Mini
I am not the least bit worried about any virus. If I knew even one person who had a problem I might change my mint but till then, why worry.
I apologize to the OP if this detracts from your valuable thread.

Re: Anyone put Mint on an Intel NUC?
I've been thinking of trying this one: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856102204 With a 120GB SSD and 8GB RAM it comes in about $290. That Pentium processor is the latest version, Pentium Silver, which has shown benchmark results similar to i3 and i5. Of course, the RAM and S...

All you have to do is right click on the iso file and select make bootable USB stick. That will open Image Writer.

Re: HPLIP still Problematic
Both HPLIP and HPLIP-GUI are required so I installed HPLIP-GUI and the Toolbox is loaded. I removed and reinstalled HPLIP and HPLIP-GUI, then I followed the prompts in the toolbox to set up wireless printing. On selecting a print job, however; I get this (photo) ; I have never seen this message befo...

HPLIP still Problematic
HPLIP has only once actually provided wireless printer service for me and that was in LMC19T (that is Linux Mint Cinnamon 19Tara for those unable to decipher that). That proves it works but it does not at this time. I do not know why I bother with loading the HPLIP toolbox as I have no problem attac...
