Mint forgets display setup when using KVM

I have a KVM for switching my Display/Keyboard/Mouse between two laptops, everything works fine except Mint forgets my setup and I have to define how I want my Display (Extended Desktop, Screen on Left, Laptop on right) every single time which is incredibly annoying! How do I get Mint to remeber my ...

Mint 19.1 failing ISO verification

I've downloaded Mint 19.1 from 3 different mirrors now and they all give the same hash Mint.PNG but it doesn't match what is listed at https://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/linuxmint.com/stable/19.1/sha256sum.txt:- b580052c4652ac8f1cbcd9057a0395642a722707d17e1a77844ff7fb4db36b70 *linuxmint-19.1-cinnamon-32b...

Re: Ubuntu and windows, sitting in a tree...

Unless you are using LMDE, you are still using ubuntu if you run the regular mint (in modified form)...so quit criticizing...don't bite the hand that feeds you (as it were)... Disagree with this entirely, as others have said Ubuntu has done a good job in the past but Mint is what Ubuntu should have...

I've got the opposite problem - scrolling through a document using the mouse and the workspace keeps changing, how do I disable this behaviour?

Seriously? You may have specific issues but people all over the world are using Linux on a daily basis now, it's no longer just for geeks.

Re: Set number of workspaces in Cinnamon

This is not an issue at all  There are at least 3 ways to do this: by using the hot corner and adding/deleting workspaces from there, by using dconf-editor in Cinnamon menu (find "number of workspaces") or directly on the CLI: (for example): gsettings set org.cinnamon number-worksp...

Agreed, quite surprised this is not an option.

Re: Hard to discribe problem: Mint partially not working

This seems to be a well known issue with XFCE which I have encountered many times but the various fixes on the Internet just don't work. I've given up and switched to Cinnamon instead.

<SOLVED> Can't update my signature

I signed up as a Sponsor at a higher amount and am trying to update my signature to the new link Clem has sent me but I keep getting the following error in the User Control Panel:-

"It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image."

Any ideas?

Re: Disable Screen Blanking Applications

I feel like I've missed a joke or calling it something stupid  Anyway, I noticed it's only occurring in VLC, so I've switched to XBMC. Now to find a handy XBMC remote control application. I don't get the joke either - streaming media is exactly what it is! EDIT: Except you called it "ste...

I think this would be faster than going to each workspace to see what windows are there.
If you do allow this please disable it by default, I think it's crazy to have different workspaces and then have Alt-Tab not respect that.

Re: Problem with Update Manager and Synaptic

I think this is an incorrect solution. Although after changing the file content, software can be installed and updates made, a large number of updates do not install -- the error is indicated as-- Not Found [IP: 91.189.92.167 80] From reviewing another thread I think the line should have been chang...

Re: Thanks for Sticking with GNOME 2 for Now

I understand KDE went through similar growing pains when it hit version 4, but I hear it is a decent desktop now. I hope GNOME is simply experiencing a similar phase, and that it will regain its flexability and functionality in future releases. Until then, I am very appreciative to the Linux Mint t...

Yes - but a mature interface is GOOD!! The desire to fix what isn't broken seems to be infecting the other distros, I'm glad Mint hasn't followed that trend.

Doh - I changed the theme last night, totally forgot about that, changed it back and have the icons again.

Thanks.
