Re: How To Increase Your Internet Connection Speed in Linux

@chowanec , It may work for your wired network adapter, but only if your hardware supports 1gbps speed. I have not tried it , but theoretically; you can use ifconfig & either setting( 300M & 1000M ) too obtain the desired maximum. If it does not change then you can always revert the settings...

Re: How To Increase Your Internet Connection Speed in Linux

Evidently, It seems that some of you users still have this issue. I am curious as what settings you guys changed too = ( 54M or 300M ) in order too achieve the increase. :?: Do any of you guys use an NAS, or have a router with storage, drives attached, as I do, & have you measured your speed too...

Re: SSD Geometry [solved]

Thats Cool 8) , I have my specs & test results, from my old SATA 2 Corsair SSD, but I haven't purchased a new SATA3 as of yet. I have to get another HDD Bay( one that replaces the Disk Drive ) for the new HP DV6, as I did for my DV4 a while back, That way I can run a second conventional HDD &...

Re: SSD Geometry

Luckily :-) A Corsair Force 3 60Gb drive has landed on my desk. Think I will try both standard DOS 255/63 and 224/56 with LMDE and see if I can see a difference. Lanser Lucky You, Corsair is among the fastest ,& well made drives around. I would think that if you have an actual SATA3/6GBps contr...

Re: SSD Geometry

As for SSD's I think it depends on the MFG's of the SSD that you select, The differ vastly. I have had a Corsair Force2 Sereis 120GB SSD ,in my 3yr old HP Laptop, That is SATA2 & I have done nothing but run Linux on it from day 1. As of right now it is speeding away at the maximum SATA 2 Speed (...

Re: cant boot windows

Maybe, the installer did not detect the boot loader for Win. You can try & update the grub menu list by opening the Terminal & input this code sudo update-grub It will then ask for your login password, Put in your pass, hit Enter & it should update the Grub Menu List. Reboot. If it did n...

Re: Wireless N speeds on LM 9 KDE (SOLVED)

That's really good. I never could get any results out of my system when posting ( 300Mbps) to the rc.local.file. I am glad that it worked for you, & maybe since the broadcom driver is a much newer version than when I was testing, Now I should go & do the same to my System & see if I can ...

Re: Wireless N speeds on LM 9 KDE

I think that the wireless driver for Linux , only displays 54mbps, although it is actually connected at a much higher rate. I previously ran into this same issue while making my wireless driver only connect at maximum to the wireless N router ( set to wireless N Only Mode ). I do get much higher tra...

You do have a good point there Helterskelter. I guess if we can get all the MS fans to check out any Linux Distro & show the distros to others , we can make more Linux Converts

Re: Is LM Gnome losing favouritism from Users for Zorin OS ?

Thats Groovy. It worked Very well with my tests & integrates nicely with the defaults that were pre-installed with Zorin. The only issue I found was setting the Emerald Theme Manager to the correct settings, Before I done that, It did not look as good as afterwards. Basically you have to go to t...

Interesting Views. I think some of you guys misunderstood, that I was promoting another distro or that I was trying to send users towards this new distro. My intentions are & or were neither. I was simply quoting what I had seen in the video review, which is the topic of the post, & I was cu...

Is the Linux Mint Gnome Edition losing favouritism from users of the new Zorin Core 4 ? This Review is for Comparison Only & is only a View of the ever changing Linux Distros Available. It is in no way intended to be derogatory towards Linux Mint, But hopefully a view of what may be to come from...
