Re: Linux Phones

I don't think Linux phones will make it to prime time, unless they can use the Android apps that most of us "think we need". as for the caller being able to lock your phone on a simple phone call? I have a lot of trouble believing that..... If the caller is not in my Contact List, and I do not recog...

Re: [SOLVED] Did I just delete all my data on a drive by using Timeshift?

glad you got it resolved.

In my case, the extHDD is always connected "before" Timeshift is activated.
and that extHDD is encoded in FSTAB so I never see the situation that you explained.

Re: Did I just delete all my data on a drive by using Timeshift?

Timeshift creates a Folder at the root of what ever partition that you gave it access to. it backs up the OS or system files, not the data or /home files. I have never known it to overwrite and delete existing files. I suspect that you will find it at a location like this. Please note this is for my...

Re: Lifetime Windows user.. damned if I'm gonna use Windows 10!

I have an original, Licensed 5 user CD for Windows 7 Professional. Over the years, I have used it maybe twice, and never licensed it to M$... out of the blue, a while back, I tried to restore Win7 on an old PC, OFF the Internet mind you. and it refused to accept the printed License # that is on the ...

Re: Wifi connection constantly disconnecting

I have added this to my Menu under Internet WiFi Toggle Off/On wifi.png /home/john/bin/WiFi_Reset wifi properties.png So, looking at the above in Reverse; create the file WiFi reset and place it in .bin and point your menu to where you placed that file. . that file contains this code #!/bin/bash rfk...

Re: <Solved> How to lock system tray in place

as you are very new to Linux, I think that if you will try out the Cinnamon desktop, you will be much happier. it is the Linux "look alike" to WinXP only improved a bunch. I am using 19.3 Cinnamon and the image below will show how much you can change the look of the "Panel" as it is called in Linux....

Re: why are linux image editing apps so horrible?

back when, IrFanView was the only image program that I would use.

Intuitive, and easy for a guy with "short term/long term" memory issues to work with.

I got creamed by a semi 10 years ago, and it broke the memory bank.

Re: How to remove a partition that I had created?

IMO, the way it is set up now, should be ideal. this is assuming that sda1 contains all of your install along with the /home data. I purposely divide my HDD/SSd into 2 paritions. I then use the 2nd partition as my backup drive. that is where Timeshift, backintime/Luckybackup, Aptik, all store their ...
