New Kernels not showing in Grub Menu

I just now, shutdown and rebooted expecting to see an Option to select from different Kernels. I do not see an option to select Kernels. https://i.imgur.com/gavNeDb.jpg the reason for this came about from this other thread, which I had posted in. So, why do I not see the newer Kernels in Grub to try...

Re: graphics card for Linux, Nvidia or AMD?

...... snip..... AMD is still offering both open source and proprietary drivers for Linux. Due to AMD releasing the source code to their drivers, the performance has increased dramatically to the point where there is no reason to use the proprietary drivers except for a few use cases. There is a ru...

Re: Woke from a nap, my water bottle was really hot

Okay, it is 10 PM local, the laptop has been on the night stand for about 3 hours while I was outside transplanting some trees. Mimosa trees.... we keep loosing them for some reason, found 3 that want to grow by themselves and moved them to a good spot right over the Septic tank's lateral system... ...

It could be a good paper weight. or use it for target practice  https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/bullet-holes-hard-drive-237912769 Now there is a very good idea. My son is taking me out to his Target Range next Saturday.... I'm going to take that with me. My Ruger LC9s at 25 yard...

Rummaging around and ......

I found this back in a corner.
Think it is time to take a peek, see if anything important is still on it, and send it to HDD heaven.

It isn't even big enough to install 19.3 Cinnamon on it
wonder if the warranty is still valid

Re: Woke from a nap, my water bottle was really hot

Is a 'bottle of water' the new "hip" way of referring to your laptop? ha ha ha, our local water supply comes from a lake, and the taste is absolutely horrible. we will NOT drink it, nor use it for ice. We buy packaged ice and bottled water for drinking  it just so happens, that the exha...

Just in case there is any "residue" from test disk left over, run the two terminal command codes below...DAMIEN Cleanups after Deletions: sudo apt autoremove --purge Clear Miscellaneous Detritus: dpkg -l | grep '^rc' | awk '{print $2}' | sudo xargs dpkg --purge I am now beginning to think that Test...

If that screen shot is current, it is showing that test disk is actually still running in real time...DAMIEN
then I shall unload it, as that is a Current Snapshot.
I wondered about that.

Re: They want consumers. What if you aren't?

I subscribe to Verizon's Caller ID, which is $2 bux a month.... but is a lot more informative than any of the Caller ID Apps that I have tried off of Play.Google.store none of them are accurate. Unless I am expecting a doctor to call me, and an Unknown To Me call comes in, I always slide the Ignore ...

So I take it this is still happening now? If yes, go the "processes" tab and sort by CPU activity by clicking on that column. Okay, back from packing the truck.... traveling tmw to see my son up in Dayton, Ohio which is a 12 hr trip. here is Processes and all it shows me is what I did 3 days ago, w...

Re: First impressions of Ubuntu Touch

Oneplus 3 and 3T are supported, though the version of the OS that runs on them is not as mature as the one for the Oneplus One: https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/ as I am not familiar at all with OnePlus, I just assumed that the 'One' is much older than the '3-T' ?? when looking for cellphones, I alw...

Re: They want consumers. What if you aren't?

the trend to use intrusive loud, distracting, distasteful, and otherwise obnoxious ads, ads that block my ability to view a website, and ads that contain malware have forced me to block all ads. I tried whitelisting sites that didn't have obnoxious but that did not work well and was more hassle tha...

Woke from a nap, my water bottle was really hot [ solved ]

I have always just closed the lid and put my laptop on the sidestand next to my Recliner. Being of the elder age, naps seem to over power me more often than not nowadays... :) just a bit ago, I woke up and my bottle of water, which is usually at room temp, was really really warm. Grabbed a couple of...

I must be a 'good consumer', if you watch my Email Inbox....

I have to "Unsubscribe" from about every 5th or 10th email that I see daily, and I mark it SPAM at the same time.

Re: Safe use of Synaptic to remove all packages in status

Thank you. I didn't realize, and I'm not very knowledgeable about any of Linux or Synaptic, but I thought this particular article's advice might have been dangerous , not just unnecessary, and wonder if anyone could comment. I have never done that once, have not felt the need for it, as mentioned t...

Re: First impressions of Ubuntu Touch

I looked on Swappa.com com and the oldest OnePlus that I could find was a 3-T for $80 bux.

not too bad for a new toy to play with, I might do that just to experiment around with it, not actually get a simcard for it.

Re: File transfer hangs for a long time before finishing

I'm of the opinion, that the Progress Bar is not an Exact Science as to how long it is going to take to perform the job. Initially, the File Managers have to run thru the list of jobs, collect names, locations, and then start the actual copy process. Once the actual copy process itself has started, ...
