Re: Mouse "crashes" remains immovable after a short time

I am curious about these two lines

Code: Select all

[ 2.171394] usb 1-1: Product: USB Optical Mouse
[ 2.171395] usb 1-1: Manufacturer: Logitech[code]
why is it insisting that the LogiTech mouse is still being used?
it is broken, am using a wired mouse.

Re: Mouse "crashes" remains immovable after a short time

as for the mouse not being active, it has remained that way for the last couple days no matter what I do to get the problem fixed. Once unplugged and plugged back in, it seems to be working fine. I can leave the laptop alone for a few hours, and it is still working. here is dmsg oops: going to have ...

Re: Mouse "crashes" remains immovable after a short time

I have been wondering about all of those repeated command line entries, in my way of thinking, the last one was the only one that was effective? anyway, I researched each command to see what it did, and found out there some that weren't related to my particular laptop, as it has Intel cpu. so, here ...

Re: Replace built-in programs with Flatpak versions?

I am trying to get a video editor to work, and it is in Flatpak,
and it will not install and run.

Bad idea IMO.

I never have these type problems with *.deb files, they just install and work.

Re: XED - Change Default "Save to" location to Desktop

added that to my Notebook. but, had to drop the %U from the command line, that forces it to save to a filename of "%U" just deleting that from the end of the line, leaves it with a highlight "unknown document" as the name, and I can simply start typing and it takes the new typed name, which is exac...

Re: Mouse "crashes" remains immovable after a short time

The previous methods only worked for the Current Session. upon reboot, the mouse locked up again ( USB suspended ) Just to note that the usbcore.autosuspend=-1 kernel parameter (set in /etc/default/grub, don't forget to run sudo update-grub afterwards) disables this permanently. Okay, I am back to ...

Re: Why go with Linux Mint Debian Edition 3 for the first time?

I tried LM19 and it is so fraught with problems, that I took it off my laptop, and replaced it with LMDE3-Cindy. wow, what a difference that was. Total smoothness everywhere Recognized my WiFi card when LM 18.3 Cinnamon does not The bad USB AutoSuspend problem on LM 18.3 is non-existent Everything I...

Re: XED - Change Default "Save to" location to Desktop

I don't think there is, but you can just edit the launcher and change the command line to this: sh -c "cd /home/user/Desktop; xed %U" (adjust the path to point to your desktop) Okay, I added that to Custom Keyboard Shortcuts and it does indeed make it default to my desktop. thanks for that hint. ad...

Re: Win XP as Virtual machine in Virtualbox

I can tell you that sometimes a bad link in Firefox consumes 100% of the cpu and does indeed "hog the gui" to the point you can't do anything at all.

I have to use ^Q to exit FF and wait until the cpu finally gets to where it can recognize the 'exit' command.

XED - Change Default "Save to" location to Desktop [solved]

about a year ago, I thought I had got this fixed, but somewhere along the way, an update? something, reverted the Default path back to /home and that is just not acceptable at all. I need it to be the Desktop so that I can get immediate access to the file I save, edit it, put it where it belongs, or...

Re: avatar

1st thing you have to do, is scale the image to 120 x 120,

or have the largest dimension be 120 pixels.

GIMP is fast at that.

How to turn off the Touchpad in LMDE3 Cindy? [ Solved with Update ]

the typical Touchpad options that normally allow you to turn OFF the touchpad, are non-existent in this verison.

so how do I go about turn off the damn touch-pad?
it gets in the way moving the mouse cursor while I am typing, or otherwise just laying my hands on the laptop case.

very aggravating.

For me, the issue resolved by itself. I'm in luck this time.
I can only wish it would quit this crap.
I am going to start a campaign to try and find a release that does not have this problem.

the CUPS that was installed was trying to use the old settings.

you fixed the confusion by removing it, and reinstalling it.

The joy of making all the WiFi connected stuff print again :(

My ISP sent out a new modem to replace the bad one we had. Oh great, now all of the local network devices are down :( the one that gave me the most trouble, is the Epson Multi-Function printer. the software refused to work with it, as my desktop's WiFi is broken, and the install software is Windoze....
