Re: Best source for latest version of LibreOffice for Linux Mint users?

I have successfully used the AppImage for several years. That way I can keep the system package as is for compatibility, and run the current release with the AppImage. One thing that keeps me using the AppImage instead of the flatpak or Snap, is rolling back to the earlier release is a simple as la...

Re: I need to be able to control the Audio Spectrum with YouTube Videos

for me directionality is a factor. Example: I have alarms set for certain events. I set a ringtone but when it goes off I can rotate my head one way or the other and there are dead spots where the ringtone is imperceptible. It's like null points we are so alike... my right ear is nearly useless. if...

Re: I need to be able to control the Audio Spectrum with YouTube Videos

About Pulse Effects, i didn't like it because of the delay it gave! On music it doesn't matter that much, but with video's it was annoying!! And the sounds wasn't that crisp anymore.. so i removed it. that Delay between their lips and the audio is very annoying, I agree.... but, I have to 'suffer' ...

Re: Laptop AC Adapters & Plugs - help please

late to the thread: I just cut the plug off the end of any good Laptop Power Adapter that I have laying around, not being used. I then cut the cord off of the Bad Adapter, right next to the adapter itself. I splice the wires together, and wallah! * * * I have a power adapter with LOTS of wire length...

Re: I need to be able to control the Audio Spectrum with YouTube Videos

Thank you for the suggestions. the problem is the BASS is overwhelming everything, i am not hearing the higher frequencies, as the attached Video shows, the roll-off is so severe that I can't understand what people are saying. YouTube used to have Captions which I used, but those disappeared, and I ...

I need to be able to control the Audio Spectrum with YouTube Videos

the enclosed video shows the Audio Spectrum that I am hearing. it shows what my ears are hearing, extreme emphasis on the bass frequencies, I need to emphasize the higher frequency bands. Background: I was born totally DEAF, I did not hear anything until I was over 8 years old, when a surgeon recons...

Firefox - Password entries are now Green

this occurred a while back, I have been away from home for months, just now able to delve into the under-pinnings of Linux Mint again.

am I the only one to notice, that the Password blanks for bank accounts, at least, are now green?

Re: All passwords deleted in Firefox

if you change Profiles, nothing is saved, unless you log back into the previous Profile. AFTER you get your Password situation solved. go to Settings Alt-E N then in the search box, enter 'pass' then in the 3 Dot menu upper right corner, choose EXPORT PASSWORDS. save that file someplace safe, next t...

It now asks for password when going into Users & Groups. I'm not sure why it didn't earlier maybe after doing it so much I put her password in subconsciously not even thinking about it and that why I don't remember doing it but oh well sorry if I wasted anyone's time but I can't replicate it. I...

Re: What do you do when you boot up?

I say bullcorn that leaving it on shortens the lifespan of a laptop. pure rubbish. I never, ever, power my laptop off unless it is required after a Kernel update, I never use RESTART either, that is prone to errors... ask me how i know that one. I never use Suspend, or Hibernate, and I don't use Sle...

I didn't bother to read all of that, you are supposed to paste that info into the CODE brackets, above the Editor, that makes it Readable. the code brackets are </> click that, do not move the mouse, and paste the info. meanwhile, something is really going to ruin your life in 58 seconds? this is mi...

1) I rarely ever shut down my laptop 2) all I do is press the power button and go do something else, then I look at my email, I never, ever, worry about "if the system is up todate" 99.9% of the time, all I do is remove the thin piece of fabric I toss over the screen and keyboard, to keep ...

I too, subscribe to "interesting threads" and usually just read them for info.

Welcome to Mint, the "OS of choice" in my bit of the world :)

I prefer Cinnamon because it is fully fleshed out with applications that I use almost every day.

yeah, 10 times is a bit much, just a fast flying fingers pounding the keys, but, they can take a lot: "Industrial grade SSDs are designed to operate at temperatures ranging from -40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius. During storage, these SSDs can withstand even greater temperature extremes...
