Re: Sane Broken?

I'd just be curious to know if there is ANYBODY using a scanner in the current Mint version.

Re: desktop icons appear after 30 seconds

I see a pause of 30-sec to a minute on every bootup. This machine is also all-SSD/NVME. Sounds similar. That's a nitpick compared the daily reboots required after the desktop locks up. Can't wait for the Buster release so I can dump this garbage.

Re: Mint in Crises?

You so have nothing to add, apart from what is in the blog? That's right. I do not. Is that because you are restricted from sharing non-public Mint information due to your position as a moderator on this forum, or because you support the notion that what is shown in the blog is all there is to it? ...

Glad we agree on that. I much prefer if people form their own opinions.

So the techie news media is getting worked up over nothing?
You and they are making mountains out of molehills.
Answering a simple question with condescending snark just earned you a user list update.

Re: Mint in Crises?

You could read the Mint blog and form your own opinion. Going straight to the source is probably a better idea than asking for people's speculations here. When things are going wrong in an organization, the people running it are typically the least likely to provide any meaningful details. Feel fre...

Just so as to lessen chances of feeding the troll, could you at least link to some of those stories? No, I think before accusing people of trolling, perhaps you might consider informing yourself of current events everyone else who responded seems to be aware of. https://dilbert.com/strip/2015-04-03

Mint in Crises?

Why do I keep hearing rumblings about some sort of Mint Crises? I've seen at least 3 stories about it in the past week - desktop disarray, devs unhappy, yada yada. Sounds to me like the same cat herding nonsense Linux people have been dealing with since day 1. What's up? :?

Re: Using Mint as a base operating system for VMs

Virtualization technology is awesome for large-scale stuff like server consolidation, thin-clients and other high-end corporate-type stuff. On the low end, it's nice for people trying to curb their Windoze addiction and to just play with different OS'es. I'd recommend 32G as a minimum if you expect ...

Those are the 2 files in my /etc/apt/sources.list.d - exact cut 'n paste. Ignore the chrome file if you don't have chrome installed.

Re: [Question] System on SDD and files on HDD

Based on the info available, I'd say you're on the right track, with 1 exception WRT the Windows: "If" (big if) after deciding you like it with some live practice, make the switch for good and just run Windows in Virtualbox. It makes dual-booting life SO much easier. Keeping your data on a separate...

Re: nemo and thunar suddenly started hanging

Who imagined that the output ought to be specific to nemo or thunar? My guess would be the person who asked for it, but since you asked, what's your point? You seem to be the one making imaginative interruptions here. At the very least, the output of inxi will assist people to decide if they can or...

I'm pretty sure a good clue was in the first code snippet you posted. Still wondering what anyone expects inxi to find, under the circumstances.

What have you been doing with/to the network?
