BTW, if any Perl fan is curious about my terminal game, a simulation of the type VII C uboat, feel free to send me a private message. I can send you the deb package to have a look at the code and dive a liitle bit in the Northern Atlantic. But unfortunately, the manual is in German.
Greetings, dimic

Re: CPU consumption issue with Gnome terminal (vte-spawn)
Sorry, i did not want to upset anybody or refuse cooperation. I only thought that no forum member will have resources to review 20 MB of Perl modules. But i found a solution. When i skip the shell starter script and enter the command /usr/bin/gnome-terminal --geometry 132x36 -- /usr/share/games/uboa...

Re: CPU concumption issue with Gnome terminal (vte-spawn)
Hi, the Perl program is a huge game consisting of a bunch of object oriented modules. I don't think it makes sense to analyze this program here. Do you think the Perl program causes the high CPU usage? I don't really believe because -using it for > 1 year without crashes (starting from command line)...

SOLVED | CPU consumption issue with Gnome terminal (vte-spawn)
Dear Mint experts, my Gnome terminal (running in Cinnamon desktop environment) often crashes when executing a particular Perl program. When i call the Perl program directly from the command line, the problem never occurs. Only when starting the Perl program via command 'gnome-terminal'. So i presume...

Re: .desktop file is ignored / no menue entry appears in Mint Menu
Thanks for your quick reply! Unfortunately, the suggested steps did not help to create a menue entry automatically. The .desktop file still is not recognized. For my own computer, setting up an entry with the Menue editor works fine. But I look for an automated way within the installation of my game...

Re: Deinstall application from the Mint Menu
Thanx for the quick and profound reply!!!
So, I can use the deinstall from the menue only with apt packages and flatpaks,
not with self-extracting archives. The users of my game will have to start
a removal script manually.
Best Greetings, Dieter

Hi, this is no direct reply to your post, but a comment to the subject "WiFi problems with kernel 4.13.0-26". I also have updated to kernel 4.13.0-26 because of the Meltdown/Spectre security advise. With my Asus Vivobook, WiFi works fine after the kernel upgrade. The difference: i have got...
