I am using yad a lot. The syntax is mostly the same as zenity but there are a lot more options. When you open that file in Libre office and you send it from there (click file>send>email) does it work correct then?

Are you by any chance reusing the same filename for that spreadsheet each year? Which mail application is that?

How exactly do you send that spreadsheet? From the file manager or from the spreadsheet application or from your mail application?

Other than closing your eyes selectively, no afaik. Any application can send notifications and you can tell some applications not to generate notifications. Which notifications would you like to suppress?
