Re: Bluetooth on Linux is still a nightmare

Hi Jeremy, just to clarify what that github code even is... you seem to be a (or "the"?) developer for bt in Linux? If so, first of all I want to apologize to you for the harsh words regarding BT. I realize that the resources that go into BT on Linux are not the same as on other platforms....

Re: Bluetooth on Linux is still a nightmare

Thanks for your help Jeremy. If you are using kernel 5.15 check in terminal mokutil --sb; uname -r Secure Boot needs to be disabled, then in terminal sudo apt install git dkms git clone https://github.com/jeremyb31/bluetooth-5.15.git sudo dkms add ./bluetooth-5.15 sudo dkms install btusb/4.1 Reboot ...

Re: Why so many DE?

I was of course talking in general about the issue that the same problems are solved again and again in the Linux community and OSS in general. Be it in the form of similar DEs, or in the form of similar distributions. Sometimes that makes perfect sense: when Oracle took over MySQL and Star/OpenOff...

Re: Why so many DE?

Well, yes, of course it is my point of view. What else would it be, the voice of God? But I like to think that it is a valid opinion to doubt that doing the same thing 10x or 100x instead of once is a bit questionable, and that thinking that the time it took to make the other 9 or 99 things could h...

Re: Keyboard problem: key repeat not working after reboot

Here you go. I just realized that even after re-enabling key repeat, it just ceases to work again some time later. Just happened this evening. I guess I just haven't realized it before, but now I paid extra attention. I can re-enable it by switching off and on the option in the keyboard settings. Un...

Re: Why so many DE?

but in some case I don't understand the effort made to keep things separate. I think this is a common misunderstanding, because people don't quite understand how open source works. There is no effort to "keep things separate". You have to think about it from the perspective of the develop...

Re: Bluetooth on Linux is still a nightmare

Two are indeed "Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)". It's one from TP Link and one from LogiLink, both highly recommended by many on the net for Linux. They are probably the same thing with different labels. Another is "Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Bluetooth 5.3 R...

Keyboard problem: key repeat not working after reboot

Since a few days I have this new issue I have never experienced before. Even though the key repeat option is active in the keyboard settings dialog, it's not working. I have to manually deactivate and activate it again, then it works as usual. After a reboot, the problem is the same again. I did not...

Re: Bluetooth on Linux is still a nightmare

I don't think so. But even if: I still can connect to all my devices on the same desk on a windows notebook, the iPhone or this 20$ bt to aux adapter. So I don't think this has anything to do with the problem. And as I said: I tried 3 different BT dongles. One with a huge antenna, just in case. Make...

Re: Bluetooth on Linux is still a nightmare

Maybe you should start a support topic. I have a pair of Sennheiser ear buds that work on Linux and Windows and a headset that have no issues. I have a KVM setup that share a Keyboard/Monitor/Mouse/Bluetooth dongle, the Sennheiser ear buds required some extra work to get them working on both the Li...

Bluetooth on Linux is still a nightmare

This isn't a support question - I simply gave up trying to get one of my 3 pairs of bt-headphones to work with my PC on 21.3. I tried 3 different BT-dongles. It's just insane how bad Linux still is with simple things like that. For example, my PXC550 (older Sennheiser ANC) can connect to Linux, but ...

OK:9 https://repo.radeon.com/amdgpu/6.0.1/ubuntu jammy InRelease I think part of your problem is trying to use the 6.0.1 version. Version 5.7.1 looks to be the last one with legacy OpenCL support in the repo. Compare: https://repo.radeon.com/amdgpu/5.7.1/ubuntu/pool/proprietary/o/ https://repo.rade...

Re: Has anybody installed OpenCl for AMD on 21.3 ?

Ok done some research, I am running out of hope. https://github.com/ROCm/ROCm/issues/1730 If I understand correctly, people, serious researchers that know what they're doing (I do not when it comes to OpenCL) have been trying to install the AMD drivers for older cards (apparently newer should work? ...

Re: Printing no longer works over IPP

Two days later and printing is still working from all 3 computers (using LM21.x and one Macbook). Maybe I've found a stable, successful configuration (at least for my configuration)? Time will tell. :D No luck here. Maybe I need to switch to 21.3 on my PC as well, as it works on the Notebook. But t...
