Firefox >v.66 in Linux Mint 17.3

Hi, since yesterday I'm looking for a solution how to install a newer version of firefox (currently installed v.66.03) but I cannot find anything for Linux Mint 17.3 (Ubuntu 14.04). Looks like this version is not supported or not available for this versions of linux. I tried the ppa deb http://ppa.l...

Re: Mint 18.2 WALTOP Tablet does not work [Kernel 4.13]

OK, solution found!!! I compared one by one the installation folders of LM 17.3 and LM 18.2 and found that in LM 18.2 extra .conf files had been created in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d which made wrong configuration to the system. The only correct file that should exist regarding wacom tablets is the ...

Re: Mint 18.2 Wacom Tablet does not work [Kernel 4.13]

Hi pdc_2, this is a Waltop tablet using wacom system. I know this for sure because in 17.3 it is working by using wacom drivers. As my problem actually is making a wacom driver working in my system I'm not sure if I should change the title. I'll edit the post though to make clear that is a Waltop ta...

Mint 18.2 WALTOP Tablet does not work [Kernel 4.13]

Hi guys I have a 'WALTOP International Corp. Mars Tablet' which is using the wacom circuits and in LM 17.3 works fine by using the drivers from these files: libwacom-common_0.11+dfsg-0ubuntu1_all.deb and libwacom2_0.11+dfsg-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb The problem is that I did a clean install to 18.2 and I h...

Re: Font Manager Destroyed a complete Linux Mint System!!

I posted here my experience in the hope to save some people from frustration. I was negatively surprised by the behavior of the maintainer who is in my opinion the main responsible to solve the problem. @Cosmo In LM17.3 the problem happened before the reset. I just pressed the button to scan the sys...

Font Manager Destroyed a complete Linux Mint System!!

I'm copying here the issue I opened here: https://github.com/FontManager/master/issues/55 which the irresponsible maintainer (JerryCasiano) closed it in a blink of an eye without giving a shit if somebody will have the same problems as me! I'm opening this here in order to protect the community from...

Black Screen after Login with Cinnamon & Mate, high CPU and high Disk I/O

Hi guys, rarely do I come to the situation to need help from the community, but this time this problem got me to my limits. I have a situation where I have Linux Mint 17.3 with cinnamon and after mdm login I get a black screen with a mouse pointer. I have already searched and tried every relative so...

Re: LM17.3 Cinnamon - Full System crash !!

Hi ralplpcr, no I didn't test the live yet because as you see now the problem happens only once per week, so I cannot wait one week using a live system every day to prove that it will not happen there... The RAM voltage change definitely helped reducing the crashes. This time the crash leaded to an ...

Re: LM17.3 Cinnamon - Full System crash !!

I just had another crash! This time the system restarted by it's own when I watching a video in a web page. I opened the dmesg and discovered this: [ 14.444689] ACPI Warning: SystemIO range 0x0000000000001c40-0x0000000000001c7f conflicts with OpRegion 0x0000000000001c40-0x0000000000001c45 (\_SB_.PCI...

Re: LM17.3 Cinnamon - Full System crash !!

@ ralplpcr: The idea of problematic capacitors is a good point. All electrolytic capacitors lose capacitance by aging. The applied voltage, the hours under power, the temperature and other parameters could age them sooner. So it's a good idea but because I cannot measure them without desoldering the...

Re: LM17.3 Cinnamon - Full System crash !!

@LinuxJim: I was using REISUO pressing the keys slowly... Regarding the files, it's not uncommon at all to have so many thousand of files. Windows as far as I know had no problem handling them. Bash could handle them really easy too. Nemo had the problem because by default tries to read infos from e...

Re: LM17.3 Cinnamon - Full System crash !!

Exactly one week later and under very high stress I got today again one crash. The whole week the system was rock solid. Today the CPU was at the maximum for a couple of hours with the nemo trying to copy around half a million files from an NTFS external hard disk to an EXT4 internal disk. The syste...

Re: LM17.3 Cinnamon - Full System crash !!

My motherboard is an Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe which is overclocking capable, thus the BIOS allows many configurations for RAM timings and voltage. Initially I had 2x 1GB in dual mode configuration. A couple of years ago I added extra 2x 2GB but from different manufacturer, again in dual mode. I cannot re...

Re: LM17.3 Cinnamon - Full System crash !!

I believe my problems come from the ram and I'm investigating towards this direction. I started experimenting with RAM voltage and timings from bios. I'll give my feedback as soon as my system proves stable or unstable. Meanwhile if you have other suggestions you are welcome!

Re: Cinnamon Mint crashes, in need of some help.

Hi again, I believe my problems come from the ram and I'm investigating towards this direction. Please remember if you changed the ram recently (added new ram or changed the configuration in the bios). The fact that the REISUO didn't worked means the hw and the kernel hanged completely! Please, when...

Hi my friend, can you please read this post and tell us if the problem looks similar?
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 8&t=214744

Can you also try the REISUO trick when your computer hangs and tell us if it has an effect?

Re: LM17.3 Cinnamon - Full System crash !!

@ Cosmo: I think I have upgraded sequentially from linux mint 17.1 to 17.2 and finally to 17.3. In all these versions I had crashes. @ austin.texas: I used some monitoring programs (sensors, top, system monitor etc) to check the voltages and the temperatures of both CPU and Graphic Card just before ...
