Re: "Upgrade" 32-bit to 64-bit

You can backup your "home" partition/directory where you installed your programs and restore it after a new installation, but it's not guaranteed that it will work.

I had to use it a few years back for a PowerPoint. Office 2010 or 2013 (I don't remember which it was) only allows you to play embedded .mp4 videos in powerpoint if quicktime is installed.

Re: Question on formatting second drive from NTFS to ext4

You can label is as you like. If your label of the new Ext4 partition is "Old" then it will show...Old.
You can also can specify the mounting point to be the same as the previous partition.

Re: Updates and Live USB

@felemur: using persistence, you can install software and keep that updated on your USB stick. The only thing you can't do are security updates and update the kernel. Linux Mint 17.3 can use a persistent file called casper-rw which is limited to 4GB. Linux Mint 17.2 can use a persistent partition ca...

Boot the liveUSB and then use GParted to delete the Mint partition on your HDD and the create a new one. After that start the installation.

Re: Swapable Hard Drives?

@childofthetao: install one OS on HDD1, then swap with HDD2 to install the other OS. Put HDD1 and HDD2 in your PC and you can use boot menu in order to choose which HDD to boot from. No need to swap HDDs all the time.

Re: When will Mint have KDE 5?

I registered on this website only to ask this question - I like Mint and I've been using a live disc of it for a long time, but I want KDE 5 cause it has features I need...... I've been using OpenSUSE Leap, but for some reason, it's locking up regularly on my system...... can I get rid of it? :) cl...

Re: Trinity KDE MINT install

How can I, install the full Trinity Desktop? My suggestion is to try tde-ubuntu-14.04-desktop-r14.0.3-amd64 in live mode, then install it on your machine. If you'll install TDE on top of KDE it will make a mess and you'll have a lot of issues, unless you're an experienced linux user and like to tin...

Re: Can Linux Mint be installed on a Surface?

I can disable Fastboot and Secure Boot. In fact, I can't boot to the Live USB with Secure Boot enabled. UEFI can't be disabled, as that is the BIOS (you can't do hardly anything in it), unless I possibly wiped the SSD. I tried to boot to Ubuntu as well as Mint, but I haven't had any luck there, eit...

I don't know if you can, but you should disable FastBoot, SecureBoot and UEFI, before trying to install Mint.
