Re: Hi all, please convince me to stay with Linux Mint =/

I thought I might trying something new (the 1-2 hours using Mint via USB were awesome and convinced me.) MacOS is great, let's make everything in mint like in OSX. To Menu on the upper screen, docky, four workspaces, active corners, copper quick launcher (Quicksilver I miss you...) etc. As I have t...

Choppy/unsmooth window movement with 2 displays set up

Hey guys, I'm having this weird issue where window movement is very choppy and laggy when using multiple displays, however this does not occur in mirror mode. Have anyone had similar trouble and know what to do in the situation? Thanks in advance, best regards. OS: Linux Mint 18.1 Cinnamon CPU: inte...

Re: Hey All

Welcome EmpireBuilder! Feel free to fail at linux first :D this way you will learn the most and try not to go back to windows for the familiarity, throw yourself into Linux surroundings and eventhough it might be hard at first (depends on your previous experience) you can trust me that when you once...

Re: Delighted to be here!

Finally! Thank you Microsoft! Win10 was precisely the intervention I've needed for nearly twenty years. The dual boot install was a struggle, but provided (forced) a concentrated learning opportunity that will deliver ongoing benefits. In the end the resolution was simply figuring out the last Win1...

Re: Just a few words to introduce myself.

Hello OP and everyone else. Just a few words to introduce myself. I too just installed Linux Mint about 3 days ago. My Windows 10 simply became so intrusive that I'd had enough. Aside from that, my Windows 10 Insider fast track version was about to disable itself- demanding restarts every three hou...

Re: Goodbye Windows! The Power Of Open Source

I agree! I cannot believe how stable Linux is. I never have to reboot my system - EVER! When I was using Windows - no matter how expensive of a computer I bought and how carefully I installed and configured Windows, it would always crash. There wasn't a day I could get through without doing at leas...

Re: Hello from South West England

Welcome OP!

I think that you should have no major problems migrating from Vista to Mint! Mint already works out of the box a lot of things, much more can be also done with some configuring! Do your best to get out of your computer, it now obeys you :)

Re: Goodbye Windows! The Power Of Open Source

Welcome to our community OP :) I agree with everything you said, Windows 10 moved me here as well, before that I was more or less just playing with Linux distros, but with Windows 10 there is literally nothing to go back to on Windows side :D and after some research and everything I've found out tha...

Re: Hello Lineux Mint...Goodbye Windows 10

Welcome to the refugee club that keeps growing a lot lately :D I've been using Linux for 2 years now and around a year ago I ditched all Windows partitions from all computers in the house due to the frustrations of Windows 10 and it was one of the best decisions that I've ever made. I've found open-...

Oh yes, almost completely free of Microsoft here too :) The only thing I am still using by them is skype since the majority of people use it... You can run it on Linux too. I just installed via Software Manager the other day and it runs fine. Edit - sorry, I realize you were probably referring to t...

Oh yes, almost completely free of Microsoft here too :) The only thing I am still using by them is skype since the majority of people use it... I've changed for around 10 PCs of family members to Linux Mint in last year and both my PC and Laptop, even some friends got interested and I switched 3 of ...
