Re: Replace USB Startup Creator With Unetbootin

I actually find the USB Creator more useful, since it can make persistent installs of Mint on my SD cards.

Re: Packages You Use/Don't Use

I think the PalmOS syncing tools need to go, along with old kernels and apps. What I mean is that mint and ubuntu share the same packages, and their repos are littered with old versions of everything. Why don't they update the packages as soon as the new source files are released? I was sad to see M...

Re: Why did you switch to linux mint?

On my tablet PC, the HP TX1000, Mint 5 was the only distro that got my hardware working 100%, and got past the ACPI errors I kept getting with Ubuntu.

Well has anyone tried to add Ubuntu 9.10's Wubi installer to a Mint 8 disc and see if it works?

Re: Keep Gimp in Mint 9!

I hope they keep GIMP. I'm sad they killed off gParted, so Linux Mint 7 will remain my PC Rescue Disc for now, as Mint 8 cannot partition harddrives anymore via LiveCD. I hope they get rid of Open Office except for the Writer, as it's the most used by the general populous. GIMP doesn't take up much ...

We need an easier way to change the mintMenu icon.

I was thinking maybe the mint team could possibly add a "browse" button to the mintMenu properties box to make changing the icon a bit easier for average users. Not everyone is savvy with typing directory names. Sounds simple enough to do, and shouldn't take much to make it happen. I'd contribute it...

Post Your Linux Mint Desktop!

I'm using Linux Mint 8 with Cairo-Dock 2.1.0

Icons are custom from deviant-art.com, and taskbar's background pic is custom made by me in GIMP. Wallpaper was Google'd.

Re: what happened to wubi for mint 8?

People were too lazy to make a fix for it before releasing Helena. Does Ubuntu Karmic have Wubi? If so, then the laziness is on the Mint team. If not, then I blame Wubi's dev team.

Re: Linux Mint 8 x64 RC1 released!

It'd be nice if they could manage to make all the "editions" along side eachother. Or at least release 32-bit and 64-bit together so us 64-bit guys don't have to wait.

Request A Free Linux Mint Disc!

Is there somewhere I can request a free Linux Mint disc like you can with Ubuntu? I'd like it to have semi-professional packaging to convince my family to make the switch from Windows XP SP3 to Mint 7. The problem is, they are weary to let me stick anything in the DVD drive without a proper label (i...

Re: Where can I download the daily build from?

That's not what I mean... I want to test the daily build distros like I can the Ubuntu ones. I test them out in VirtualBox to see what new changes have been made, etc. I was just wondering if any of the mirrors had the daily build on them for us to try out.

Where can I download the daily build from?

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I'm fairly new here and I can't find it in the downloads section, or by Googling. if anyone would be so happy to help me, I'd appreciate it. ^_^

(BTW, Linux Mint 5, 6 & 7 have saved me so many times when Windows takes a dive, so thank you!!!

I agree, SongBird kicks ass, since iTunes will probably never work in Linux. -_-

Right-click an ISO file to mount it.

Seems like such a simple task that's NEVER been integrated into any OS before... always need some 3rd-party app and that sucks. It should be native in every OS, be it Linux, Mac OS X, or Windows. People need to mount ISO files all the time, and I never see an OS support it natively... Perhaps Linux ...

I would love to put mint on all my PowerPC machines. It would give them new life in this hardship. http://d2k5.com/sa_emots/biggrin.gif Seriously, I would love one. Same here. I'd love to have MINT on every computer I own. Linux Mint 5 got 100% of my laptop hardware up and running, which Ubuntu cou...
